Spare tire doesnt fit on front.....?

well today i got a blowout going to class and was going to get my spare and took off my tire and all that good stuff and go to put on my spare on the passenger front side and the spare doesnt fit! this pissed me off cause i couldnt move my car until i put a tire on it and the spare didnt fit. so i had to buy a new one instead of having discount tire replace mine.

if that's true it would probably be the stupidest mistake made by a manufacturer ever... they probably tested it on the rear wheels and said "nice, it fits" but they forgot that the calipers/rotors are way bigger up front, lol

I think it could be a mass recall issue on the SS and SS Supercharged models if it is... now the question would be, is it the OEM spare tire that came with your car?

it maddens me to see a spare on the front.... take the extra 10 minutes and do it the right way.

Do you have aftermarket lug nuts?

yes, but the part that screws from the bolt wasnt even sticking out from the end of the spare.

maybe the rim wasn't properly pushed up against the hub... the center ring on the hub tends to rust really fast, making it really hard to remove/put the wheel properly... if not, then I really dont get your problem

Spares are meant for the rear. not the front , your steering w/the front wheels. you dont want a spare on there.

say it rains... or worst it's -30 degres outside, believe me you won't take the time to switch the back tire to the front and the spare to the back, lol

I have had my spare (doughnut) on front of my 05' 2.2L Sedan. It mounted up just fine.

You're supposed to put the spares in the rear anyways. I think it even says it in the manual to switch the wheels if your front tire is flat.

never put a donut on the drive axle, or un the steering axle. first off it messes up your steering, the car will pull that direction, and the difference in tire size causes the spider gears in the diff to spin at an auful fast rate, just like when doing a 1 tire burnout, it cause major differential problems, even blowing it up. it would absolutly destroy a limited slip diff if you had one. if you ever have noticed, rwd vehicles has a donut thats the same diameter at the tires so it doesnt cause any damage.

I have a feeling you were putting it on backwards if the lugs wouldn't reach through the spare's holes. Either that or it wasn't seated properly. I've got an '07 LS and the spare works fine on the front (though I've only used it as temporary support while rotating the tires).
