I really love the sound the way the SRT4 exhaust sounds. the bangin and backfiring that sh*t is sick. how can i get my cobalt ss to sound like that? is it because of the turbo? or downpipe and header? someone let me know.

 

It sounds like that because the srt-4 doesnt have any mufflers just a cat and 2 resinators. So my guess would be too have your muffler taken off and replace it with a straight pipe with a resinator.

 

Lets not forget the turbo is creating that deep sound.

you can get the SS/SC to have something similar to that, rev it up real high in like 2nd and then let off the gas, you'll hear the un-burnt fuel detonating in your exhaust, lol, close enough

That is the sound of a turbo.

You can make your cobalt sound like that by ditching the supercharger and turboing it. Or Twin charge it.

 

Its not really the turbo its massive rasp. I have a 97 z28 also and I had hooker long tube headers, off road y-pipe and just a 3" straight pipe dumped before my rear axle and it crackled/popped like crazy on decel from revs, you just need to get rid of the cats, the resonators, and the mufflers.

 

and get .4 liter more in the engine! lol j/k that neon sounds alright, but i like the stock srt exhaust the best. one company offers an exhaust for the srt that just makes it sound like a deisel truck! yuck! but I like the popping too. good luck!

There is a difference from the normal "Snap crackle and pop" from a N/A exhaust vs a turbo exhaust.

You are very wrong in saying that it is not really the turbo.

Dunno. Whenever it backfires it kinda sounds like the cars gonna blow up. I think it sounds more like theres something wrong with the car, as apposed to it being an intentional noise. However, if there is some way to make the SS sound like an V8, then u might be on to something.

yeah the camera distors the sound quite a bit but i could hear some of the popping

 

i think it would only sound like something is wrong to the un-educated ear...but for those of us who know the difference between that and backfiring, at the most it's annoying, esp. if you're a poser or people pleaser, un-like me, which i am sure i've made obvious by now.... dotn care about other people feelings in relation to myself, so have fun and enjoy your car and f' wut other people think
