ss or ls.

whats the difference cosmetically speaking. Like looking at both cars from the outside, just viewing the exterior, what is the difference? Can you make an Ls look like an ss?

just because thats how there made lol

personally i don't recommend making your LS look like an SS. just got buy a real SS! theres a lot of money and work into making it "look like one" then your not going to have the power behind it like a real SS and you will make us real SS owners look bad lol

but for real it can be done just expensive.

Cliff Notes:

Don't make your non SS look like an SS.

i'm sure my non SS that has an ss kit (no spoiler or badges) makes "real" ss owners look bad...when my car & the bf's (LT & LS) walk all over half the ss in our town

on a serious note...it's not the people who put the ss kit on their car who "make you look bad" ...it's the people who put ss kits on their car WITH SS badges who "make you look bad." making it look better with the ss kit, or anybody kit that looks decent for that matter, will not "make you look bad." making it look better with an ss kit, or any kit, while putting ss badges on, trying to say it's an ss and/or racing people and obviously losing, i think is dumb, and i guess "makes you look bad." it's all about how you go about it imo...

for example, i put the ss kit on my car about a year ago, so it's been on a little less than a year without boost. however, i did not try to pass it off as an ss or put ss badges on it. It's an LT and i'm damn proud of that and how far it's come since i bought it new, ESPECIALLY when mine or the bf's base beats ss guys who think they're all high and mighty just because they bought an ss that was already boosted off the lot...

If you want a fast daily driver or weekend warrior get a SS. If you want a reliable daily driver that is going to stay stock get a base model. When you add a lot of performance parts to a base model all you're doing is making it worth less. In the end you have more money into a base model than you would have if you just got an SS.

i hope this isn't serious. my insurance is half of what it would have been for an ss, my payments are lower AND my car is faster than the ss cobalts in my town and a lot of other cars in my town too. not to mention the satisfaction that I built it, i didnt just go drive it off the lot and add an intake or whatever...there are plenty of boosted 2.2s on here that havent been made "worthless" by boosting it.

in the end, it comes down to personal preference i guess, as with anything else...

My insurance is $60 a month... Yes I'm serious. In the end you have a base model that's worth probably 6k. Good luck selling it. Unless you built the engine see how long it lasts "being faster than all the SS's in your town". Do whatever you want but in my opinion putting money into a base model is waste.

Also I'm confused on what you actually built... You put a supercharger on it. That's not building a car. that's making a ticking time bomb.

I don't think he meant "worthless", I think he was just saying the car would be WORTH LESS to the next buyer. Especially if you do the work, the next person doesn't know what quality of work was done....even if you are a master mechanic thats been doing this for 50 years, THEY dont know that. So the value of a modified car will go down becuase its modified.

6k? Try 4k. When we sold my wifes base model all it was worth KBB was around 4500, and that was unmodified.

$60 a month for full coverage with appraisal so if something happens they pay to replace whats actually on the car, not just oem parts? i think not. last time my car was appraised it was at $11k, before the supercharger, but nice try. and i dont plan on selling it anyway, so it doesnt matter what it's worth to the next person. if i were planning on selling it, i wouldnt have done anything to it in the first place.

also I'm confused as to why you're all high and mighty with your SS that i could go buy if i wanted.

kbb on my car unmodified in "fair" condition is $9180. Excellent is $10880...

but that wasnt my point to begin with. my point was just because you put an ss kit on a non ss car, it doesnt necessarily make "real" ss owners look bad. it depends how you go about it. jeesh.

just put a high rise on the base model we all know how awesome that looks

but seriously lets say you find a set of ss supchrg rims for 400. front bumper with lip: 3-400 easy. side skirts - 200 rear lip - 200. spoiler - idfk 150

so maybe 1350 provided you paint nothing. /thread

I have full coverage insurance... It's $60 a month. I get the hook up because I'm a badass.I dont think I'm all high and mighty with a ss. It's a supercharged SS. The only reason I keep it is because it has a perfect body, never seen snow, and has 30k miles.

Well this turned into quite the pissing contest haha...OP it's all in what you want the car for. If your gonna get the car and put the SS bodykit on it and then supercharge it, why not just buy and SS/SC? You will spend less just starting with a SS/SC, then buying a base and working your way up. Alot of people have base models that look cool, although they are not for me, to each their own.
