Which SS for me?
Which SS for me?
I know I want an SS Cobalt. But which one? Below I got want I want in it down to a science.
In terms of max speed 90-95MPH in the quarter mile and for time sake 14 to 15 sec's.
I more acceleration than anything else.
I more leaning towards the SC.
It more affordable and has the look I really going for.
But MPG is still on my back. Is it really that bad? I use cruise control a lot on my 2004 Malibu 2.2.
55MPH to the base and back (32Miles). I just like to have that extra power on weekends or mad at a truck.
Budget is roughly 8000-1000$
Thank you, For your time in advance.

The LNF is a better car all round. The LSJ can make the same power, but you would need to spend a lot more money. If you can squeeze out a little more money, you'd be able to get a LNF, and it would be worth it. I've found my mpg to be surprisingly good long as I don't wear my shoes made of brick.
In the range of 8000-10,000 the SS/TC is not gonna be possible. Find a supercharged SS, 07 if you can find one. You can get pretty good mileage out of the SS/SC, many people report over 35 mpg highway.
at that budget, you will be limited to a Supercharged.
I had a Supercharged cobalt and the whine was fun. but it was so slow. Unless you swap Turbo/TVS you wont break 300 whp. I just traded mine in on an LNF and I like it soo much better.

SS/SC fits all of your criteria. If you can stretch the budget, go for a TC.
My SS/SC with an intake ran a 14.6 @ 98mph.
Same mods saw 38 mpg average highway. On my trips to/from grad school I could get 40 mpg out of it, only because it was still highway, but not really able to go over 55mph due to assinine police presence.
I never drove it unmodded in the city, but 50/50 city highway driving I would usually get right around 30mpg (depends mostly on driving style, hard accel. will kill city mileage).
Those are calculated values, my DIC mileage always showed about 1.2 mpg less than I got from doing the actual calculation.

have you thought about a installing a sc kit on your 2.2 and a tune? Not sure how it would handle the power but would be a much cheaper route, cheaper to insure also. Just something to think about, I have an 06 sc and love it just wish I had 4 doors instead of 2. Personally I average 25 mpg consistently and I don't baby it around either.

And I really love the look cobalt.
Been looking at the performance section. Looks Like I really don't have to do anything to this car to get the results I'm looking for.
