The SS name abused?
The SS name abused?
Whats up with all these chevys with SS badges on them? A Malibu???!! I can see a impala and maybe a monte but geez for the malibu and 2.4 balt I think they went way over board...Today I even seen a new red chevy pickup SS ...Retartded... I am waiting to see a aveo ss
The supposly new turbo cobatl will be a SS they said they are keeping it on certain vehicles and the SS is staying on only one of the cobalts instead of two
you laugh at the idea of a Malibu SS???
Ever hear of back in the 60s where Chevy stuffed a 350 under the hood of the MALIBU SS which the base came with a fourbanger?
The problem isn't the OVER USE, it is the fact that GM abandoned the RWD platform for what looked to be a better solution, FWD...if they kept RWD all this time, there would be no fuss over the over use of an SS badge.

that said, a 2.4 SS is actually as quick as most of those cars, showroom stock.
ss/sc should have the SS name, because the SS means super sport, and the SS/SC being the highest trim with a supercharger, better interior, and a better body overall, would represent why chevy brought out the SS name in the first place
why do people get upset. who cares. it does have some history behind it but WE ARENT IN THE 60s OR 70s ANYMORE! times change. it is just a trim level. dont worry about it. mostly anything that carries the SS badge has been modified by its owner anyway.
my dads 71 Nova SS isnt even a real SS!! it has 454 in it, but it was originally a regular nova. does that make it any less than an SS/?

I guess if you consider being slower than both the Ford Lightning and SRT-10 Ram by a mile badass.
You sure about that? The fastest I've heard a Malibu SS (stock) run is 15.3 in the 1/4. That's barely even w/ the 2.4 SS.
Maybe, until they pull up next to one and find out how their Motor City muscle loses to a little 4-banger. Those cars weren't that amazing stock. Maybe at the time, but not compared to today's standards. A '67 Camaro SS runs about a 15.4, Nova about a 16, and the Chevelle was the most respectable, with a 13.8. These are all stock numbers, but they're also big V-8s. And don't even mention racing a Cobalt against any of those cars on a road course.

Good point.
