I agree. I don't know why people hate other people with different cars. Yeah, some srt4 guys might be dicks but i'm pretty sure that the majority are awsome (JRSTHC being one of the dicks for the cobalts) I know that i'm going to one of those SRT4Mation car meets because i have spoke to them and they seem really cool and are looking forward to seeing me there. KGMDawg was the person I spoke to. Who knows, maybe i'll start showing up every sat. hanging with them. Yeah, they drive a different car then us, but so what? It was their decision. I'm a car enthusiast, therefore, I love all kinds of cars. I'm not really biased against any car. I love cars, always have, and always will

JRSTHC, you're a good example of what I'm trying to point out about some people, if an SRT owners was to bash the SS/SC here I could then see negative remarks about them....but until then why say bad things about them.

If you give respect you will recieve respect in return.

I do think my car is built better, but that can also be sort of an opinion. idk, i just would like the srt4 drivers to get along with the cobalt drivers because they are two great cars that American car companies have made to compete with the sport compacts.

So i was on my way home tonight on the highway when I see these lights fly up behind me so I slowed down thinking it was a cop but when i looked over it was a blue SRT-4. He pulled up aside me doing the 3 fingers and then beeped 3 times so im like umm. no. so i hit the brakes. I then catch back up to him and decide to play cuz i dont wanna back down here. We then slow down to a 30 mph roll on the highway and he does his 3 beeps and we both hit it. Oddly enough I was next to him for a good 4 seconds then he started pulling away. I think he might of been playing w/ me at this point but he wasnt. I followed him off the next exit and got up next to him at a stop light. He says to me

Him "Is that thing supercharged"
Me " Na man. Just the base coupe"
Him " OH man i thought it was cuz of the wing"
Me. "Ya. I just like the way it looks on my car, But its only the 4 cylinder EcoTec"
Him "But F***ing A man. Your car is fast as a M***** F***** for only being a 4 cylnder"
me "Thanks man, you ever race an SS"
Him " Ya I only bit it by a little bit like a half car length"
Me "Damn. man. Take it easy tho and Ill see you around"
Him. "Ya man deffinty. Later"



So all in all for all these SRT-4 Vs. Cobalt SS rivals arnt really there like people say. Guy was mad cool and im deffintly gonna chill with him sometime. "


Moral of the story: I guess srt-4 owners are just as cool as we are

Scroll back and reread your post, and it's very easy to see why we made comments about what you typed. Regardless if you meant anything by it, it still came across as being pretty negative. Nobody with an SRT bashed on an SS in this thread......In the future, you may want to keep those types of posts to a minimum, or at least in threads where people are bashing SSes. Just a suggestion......

Nobody's perfect, and we all have our own opinions. We obviously all have a passion for the cars we own. Sometimes it just needs to be toned down......

 

nothing but love for SRT-4 and CSS owners in Houston. I attended the Leading Edge tech meet a few weekends ago w/ some fellow CSSers and SRT-4 owners. The folks at Car Boy, Modern Performance, Leading Edge and the drivers/owners themselves were all very friendly and humble. Good to see that kinda stuff amongst all the trash talk online you see on a daily basis.

And hanging with an SRT for about 4 seconds.....DAMN I wonder how fast my brother's car is since he has the Cobalt Base. I have never been in it when he has driven "agressively" He has a custom exhaust only 2.25 though I told him to go with 2.5 oh well what are u gonna do?

 

ya know when I bought my Berger SS I had looked into the TomHenry camaros then, nice place! TH himself was a down to earth guy and was easy to talk with but not sure bout you JRS, come down a few notches and relax it's all in good fun here

But i plan on getting the dual magna flow from rksport ( I know. duals pointless but i have the rear valence so it would look stupied w/ o it since they mad it w/ 2 outlets. ). The sound is growing on me the more i hear it so im not minding that "ricy" sound as much as i did. But what kinda muffler does your brother got? and hows it sound?

 

He has one of those eBay mufflers that he got for $5, not joking either. It sounds really really good for a $5 muffler I can tell you that. It's not a choppy sound, it's a nice smooth sound, and it's not too loud or too soft. Right now I think he doesn't have a cat. It sounds nice, kind of ricey, but what do you expect from a 4 banger, certaintly not a muscle car sound, although i wish

 

go get actual numbers of each car, not magazine specs, and you will see how this "neon" compares to your 'uber' ss. and you use that neon thing as if its new. most srt owners dont care what you call it. i find it funny that someone has to stoop that low to talk smack on my car. in fact, i call it a neon myself. why? its easier to explain it to people. and outdated? take a look at the cavalier line up. they have been out for just as long, but dodge is scrapping the platform of the neon, for something else. razor/caliber, whatever it is. and since it is your opinion that the ss is sporty looking, which it is, it is MY opinion that it looks like a revamped civic. but i still like the ss s/c. i like the lines, but the interior just wasnt working for me. i test drove the srt, and fell in love with every aspect of the car (except the wheel hop).

but i would still like to hear how the cobalt is 'far superior' then the neon. if i recall correctly, werent your 'new and superior' headlings catching fire in the early days of production? i know its new, and things WILL happen, but comming from you, it sounds like you are talking up the car better then a ferrari.

typical dealer attitude i guess though. -shrug- and yes, you are right...the ss is on the TAIL of the srt..and if "I" have anythign to say about, thats where ALL other ss's will stay. in my rearview. (not hating guys, just the enthusiast in me comming out).

Friendly word of advice; Stay away from RK Sport. They overcharge like crazy. Shop around for your exhaust. I will guarantee that you will find it cheaper somewhere else. Also, you may want to start checking www.gmpartsdirect.com. They may already be offering parts for the Cobalt SS, and be selling the same exact exhaust that RK Sport is.

about the CObalt and SRT fighting.... it would be crazy fio people didnt argue, think abotu it who doesnt want to haev the best or be the best.


SRT owners need to realize that it will be easy to get bashed here though... becuase your not on an SRT website and not everyone thinks Domestic vs Import....

I love both cars for what they are but the looks of the SRT make me want to lose my lunch, it boggles my mind that they would actually make a stock raced out NEON.... considering Neons have been the ass end of cheap car jokes for years now...


I cant wait to see the replacement SRT4 when the neon bites the dust

 

The Neon's replacement is supposed to be some thing called the "Caliber." I don't know much about it, other than it looks like a miniature minivan/PT Cruiser.

You're right, not everyone does think "Domestic Vs Import." In fact, I don't give a damn who makes what. I'm not loyal to ANY make of of car. I buy whatever I like, and I don't care (for the most part) who makes it. However, there are a few that I won't touch, despite liking some of their models (Mitsubishi, Chrysler, Hyundai, Kia). Why not Mitsubishi? Because they have a horrid reputation for reliability. Why not Chrysler? Because Chrysler can't build a transmission that lasts more than 25,000 miles. EVERYBODY I know that has owned a Chrysler product has had AT LEAST TWO transmissions replaced within 60,000 miles of owning the car, and I'm not talking teenagers; I'm talking aunts and uncles that are pushing into their mid 50s to 60s. Why not Hyundai or Kia? Regardless of how well their cars are holding up NOW, I can't get over their stigma (yet) that they're unreliable and unsafe.

I don't care if a car is made by Ford, GM, Volkswagen, Subaru, Toyota, Nissan, etc. I buy what I like.

People talk about how we should buy American cars, and quit supporting the Japanese companies. Well, when the Americans start putting out good quality cars like the Japanese automakers, then I'll start buying them. Until then, I'll look elsewhere. I'm going to get the product that's the best for my money, and the Americans aren't making that product. In fairness to the American automakers, they are starting to come around.......slowly.
