So I've been wanting the ss/tc seats for a while but I don't really want to lose my heated seats because I love them dearly haha. So I was wondering (for anyone who's heated seats before) how hard would it be to take out the heating element in my s/c seats and swap it into t/c seats so they'd be heated and I could have the best of both worlds? Just a thought...

Can be done in as little as 1.5hours if you know what you're doing.

Note that I used aftermarket seat heaters, about 80USD including shipping, worth the cost IMO.

There's a good chance you could use the heating element from your old seats, as long as it wires up the same...

I would imagine there's a good chance they fit, but you would likely have to cut them though. Notice on my how-to where I cut the pads so you would still have the seam in the seat? If you don't cut, you can't get the velcro back in there and the seat won't look right. I think as long as the pads are designed like the one I bought (where the power wire runs down the side and it's a carbon-fibre type mesh design for the heating area) you should be able to do it. I think if it's a pad you can't cut, you'd lose heat below the area you cut. I noticed the SS/SC seats do not have the seam in the same spot the SS/TC does.

to be honest, since they arent leather, and more of a pseudo seude material with mesh on the sides, i dont think they would need heated seats. My SS is the first car ive ever had WITHOUT heated seats, I dont see it being a problem.

 

Yea they don't need them but I thought it'd be cool to heat them since I love it

 

It's totally worth it

If you have to, go aftermarket. They're relatively cheap, and they work.

 

If you want heated seats, by all means go for it... But it's definitely not necessary with the SS/TC seats in the winter, the materials they're upholstered with don't really get cold.

 

YES THEY DO. Just not as cold as leather, and they don't stay cold for long. lol.

I had heated seats on my last car, so I'm spoiled and can't go without.

 

Considering the fact that the frames are the same, I would say so. It should be rather easy.

I've only ever had heated seats in my Monte SS.. But I find the auto starter to be more helpful.. I don't find my Recaros to be too cold for long since they have that cloth inside and the leather is only on the putside..
