If it is do able its probable gonna cost a 1500 to 2000. You will need the mirror, transmitter, receiver, and probably a computer fo it.

Few things to keep in mind about On-Star...

1: Onstar can locate you in the time of a crash with internal GPS locator.
This combined with knowing the time, Onstar now has the information they
need to compute your speed. If they don't already, they may in the future
aid law enforcment of speed limits. Or maybe im being somewhat paranoid.

2: Onstar can shut down your vehical if it's stolen.
This means they can do it if it's not stolen also.
Do you really want some one ealse to have that capabilty over you?

On-Star has some great safety features and can help out alot.
However keep in mind that this safety comes at the price of
some one watching what your doing with your car. Where you're
going, when you go there. How long it takes you to get there, translatieing
to how fast you drove there.

If your looking for a GPS guidance / direction device, maybe
you could get something like a TomTom Recieve only. A Stranger
sitting at a desk miles away wont be able to shut your car off with
the push of a button.

Just my thoughts about On-Star

Not too mention the annoying emails I keep getting about updates on my wifes car and the calls from Onstar wanting to make sure we are happy with the car. If I could disable the stupid thing it would be out of the car.

I like onstar. ^^FYI TomTom cant dispatch for help when youre entraped or ejected from the vehicle. If Onstar is able to shut off a car at an accident, thats one less thing that emergency crews have to worry about and that can address there attention to something else more important.

Even though i wish they made the RPD addon include a built in gps instead of the garbage onstar directions, onstar has come in handy a few times. On Halloween night I stopped at my house to grab some food and get dressed for a party, I had pants with no pockets and a bucket for my costume(lepricon). I put my stuff in my bucket, keys, wallet, etc, while loading speaker for the party I was going to. I made the mistake of throughing my stuff into my trunk and shutting it before unlocking the car, with the keys in the bucket still! I was screwed, my 3 friends were not happy campers too, luckily I remembered I had onstar. I borrowed my friends phone called onstar, a few security questions and 10 seconds later my car unlocked remotely. I looked like a total fool, but likely onstar saved the night, Halloween ended up being a great night.

Onstar to me is good for the following,
wrecks- it reports them,
stolen- can shut that **** down and track it,
lockouts- like above, saves time and money
insurance- you receive a small insurance discount (not sure how much it is, i don't pay insurance luckily)
monthly status updates- tells you when tires need to be filled, oil, system diagnostics, basic stuff yes, but for people that are not knowledgeable with cars, quite helpful.
I dont really use it for much other than that, the phone system is pointless to me, i have bluetooth so why pay for a line for my car too? and other than setting up i have yet to push that blue button since i've purchased my car.
