stock car--needs help

my very first day here (and the next two) i got beat up a lil (lol) but got some advice on the brakes question. now that step one is out the way...my stock ss/sc is done being stock (will be)...any suggestions on what to start with? at first i want to keep it simple, but noticeable. wanna do some things to make it faster and to reduce some torque steer in the process (cuz it's already terrible)

Do you care about your warranty?

If you care about warranty then stage 2 is the way you should go...if you dont care about warranty then I would get cooling mods out of the way first...

go stage 2. It's prolly the best thing you can do for your car without voiding warrenty. Then get GMPP exhaust which also is warrenty safe.
If you don't care about your warrenty, then get a custom stage, tune, exhaust,dp,header, intake, mounts, cooling mods, etc.

Cooling mods, stage 2, intakes, exhaust will not void your warranty...

Now, Meth injection(cooling mod) will possibly void it...but thats "gm's expert"s opinion vs the companies.

You can do almost anything to your car, short of turbocharger, new supercharger, nos without voiding your car.

Personally id suggest a Stg 2 (Includes a new tune, injectors, pulley), granted it will net you approx 50 more hp...but it pulls alot harder....now, add a cold air intake....and you will hear that supercharger of yours whine....and it will whine loud.(gets all the attention).

they had a performace package to add that kinda stuff when i got the car...to boost to i think 300hp, or close. but said i'd do it myself, and better...
smaller pulley, yes
cold air intake, yes
etc., yes
but what if i dont do all at once, one at a time, which first...suggested companies/websites for the parts too?

and what do i do about that damn torque steer, more power is gunna make it worse, so do i wait to do some work first, or take care of that first, and what i do to reduce it?

you can't do just the pully, if size down on the pully you need a smaller belt, and a tune to make the computer read the extra air thats coming in from the smaller pully. Also bigger injectors are recommed so you don't max out the duty cycle of the one that are in there..

so they're kinda like a one shot deal, huh. thought so, but being that i don't KNOW anything i think doesn't count, yous are the confirmations and the ideas

got the stage 2 idea now for the parts...
and after stage 2? will i be going into the warranty then?
how great is this warranty anyway? i haven't once serviced my car at chevy and paid those labor rates!! haha. i'm also used to the BMW 4yr/50kmile warranty that includes maintenece. i know this sounds real dumb, but what's my warranty on this one?...5yr 50, engine? 10yr 100, powertrain? that's why i chose this baby... (besides my customer who owns a chevy dealership brought it for me to test drive when he picked up his 650icp and SOLD ME A CAR, when i just sold him one!!

cheap parts and a car i can mod. american muscle and german perfection. but i know a heck of a lot more about my bimmer cuz i work here. besides stock parts and loving to drive it, don't know too much else about my ss/sc...

and can anyone answer this question...why the freak didn't they add one more gear?!!!
with all the power/mods some of you add, do you find it satisfying as a 5-speed?

ps-if i am asking too many questions at once. let me know...i should probably be posting new threads for different questions. but i'm new to the whole forum idea too. please forgive me till i learn

well parts are by no means cheap, but you should do full exhaust and cai too. let the car breath

its fine to ask as many questions as you want, and you don't need a new thread, its pretty much all the same topic....

Cause it's not a torqueless Si, and it isn't really necessary.

If it's whine you want, start with an intake. I have one, best friend has a MINI S and my car COMPLETELY drowns her out. The only one at the track that comes close to mine in noise is a guy with a Dinan stage 5 kit and intake.

that's a must!! i love this place <3

i never knew there were "stages" learning so much. my first boyfirend back in high school used to bring me to DPA (in LI) and i loved it!! all the cars, everything. i wanted a car i could work on, but then got a job working for BMW. i finally added my ss/sc in july '06, but it's been two years cuz i didn't have time, or really know where to start. i have a lot of guys working with me, but a lot of them just think they know what they are talking about. i joined on Monday and already got a TON of answers to all the questions that i've had for a long time... i really appreciate you all having patience and helping me out!!

The other thing to think about that doesn't always get mentioned here - you have to mod in moderation if that makes sense. If you don't care about major things wearing or failing prematurely like clutch or even engine and/or the transmission as a whole, then go all out. But if you'd rather not be faced with any MAJOR repairs, you'll want to decide how "safe" you want to keep it. Doesn't mean that you can't still go all-out with the car, you'll just at some point have to shift away from pure power mods and go with some supporing mods like engine cooling as well as more diagnostic stuff that will let you keep an early eye out for potential problems.
