Stolen gas?
Is it possible to steal gas out of our cars? I figured there would be some kind of mechanism to prevent that, but I think someone stole my gas! I never spill gas on my car. Leaving work today I noticed there was gas all over the side of my car, and the car on E? WTF?
I know members on here have been getting locking gas caps, but I was assuming that it was so no one puts crap in your tank.

Gas Theft
I would imagine it is possible, with gas prices at 3.56 per gallon for the cheap **** and the world we live in I would bet that gas theft is going to get worse I am going tomorrow and buy a locking cap for my Cobalt, T Blazer and Silverado!! It is a shame you have to do this to prevent gas theft

All they do is get a gas can...a garden hose....and your car.
How To: 1. Get your garden hose, cut both ends off to a substantial length.
2. Put 1 end of the hose in the gas tank...
3. Suck the garden hose, until you get a mouth full of it.
**DONT SWALLOW**
4. Put the other end of the hose into a gas can
5. Make sure nobody is around you...

I'm gonna go get my gas back
But honestly, why wouldn’t they design it so the house can’t go all the way down? Like a mash screen or grill in the pipe to the tank?

Sounds like Jony has the next mod for the site.

There is actually a check ball there and a garden hose won't work to syphone it out. If you get a small enough house though they make special one that will move the ball enough to get in there. It's really designed incase of a roll over accident not for fuel theft. When prices got bad after katrina people were actually stabbing the gas tanks and draining them that way to since it's harder to syhone gas now. So in a way your lucky they didn't do that. I'd be pissed out of gas and need a 300 dollar or so tank.

I want a lock gas cap but I used to be an emissions inspector and a lot of them leak thus causing and evap code. I didn't have a problem with the one I had on my camaro guess it comes down to luck. Stanley I think is the one that makes the best ones. I can't remember I'm gonna have to check into and try one out.

Im pretty sure the old garden hose technique hasnt worked for a good while now.
they put blocks and kinks in the pipe enough that its not that easy anymore.
Im sure theres probably a way if they really really want to do it....
but any old crack addict with a few feet of hose isnt gonna drain your gas....

I own a tractor trailer repair shop. We have a DC fuel transfer pump that will move about 10 gallons per minute. Really small, connects to a car battery. No need for a hose anymore.
JonnyB- My gas tank was emptied last summer. Found my seat adjusted to the wrong spot,
You are almost married aren't you????
Later,
Steve.

friend of mine saw someone getting a tank of gas out of a dodge ram with a hose and doing it by mouth. He called Police and they showed up just as he got the last of the full tank. He had a small truck that had several gas cans in the back of the cab full of gas.
The police asked him if he was getting gas out of someones vehicle. His reply was no but of course when you smell it on his breath he is sooo busted. They charged him with stolen property times how many times he got the gas out of other cars.

I was under the assumption that all cars now-a-days had anti-syphon valves... mesh screens... or ***** in them... mainly to prevent fuel spillage in event of a rollover but it should work to keep someone from stealing your gas.
Call your dealer and ask... they should know.

Yea, a locking gas cap is the first thing i got for my Cobalt. With fuel prices at $1.36/L for premium, (about $6.35/ gallon) it is a great investment.
Check this out, this is who and where i got mine. It's really good quality too. I'm impressed. Just make sure to specify for a Cobalt!

Any luck on finding a Billet or Black painted Locking Fuel Door???
Not the gas cap, but the fuel door.
Buddy of mine photoshopped a black Fuel Door (the billet ones like they make for trucks) on my car and it looked bad ass...I'm trying to locate one that will work, but no luck.

ok Jonel............................find the best vendor for the job. One that takes visa and one that will ship to USA and Canada. Then do a huge group buy for us for the locking caps.

gas can be removed from our cars or any car with a simple tube sold at most truck stops its small enough to get past the check ball and auto starts via a one way valve. We use these at my work to drain cars before going to the junkyard. And asking the dealership isnt gonna answer many things I was just told by a service manager that my car should have 87 octane in it lol

Yea they can stab the gas tank. I have a 1967 camaro and it has a steel tank and the other way they can get it is cutting the line.
I believe somebody done it to mine because we have a bum always bumming gas pop and about anything and i was backing out and my car backfired and my car went up. Lucky i got it put out but i cant prove it because it burnt the evidence.
