L76 was originally Holden's version of the 6.0 L (5,967 cc/364.1 CID) Generation IV engine. While displacement on demand technology was disabled on Holdens, this feature is enabled on the 2008 Pontiac G8. The engine also meets Euro III emissions requirements. Output is 348 hp (260 kW) at 5600 rpm and 376 ftˇlbf (510 Nˇm) at 4400 rpm for the Holden variant, and 361 hp (269.8 kW) and 385 ftˇlbf of torque (526.5 Nˇm) for the G8 GT.[3]

so the l76 wouldnt be in a 99 suburban... hahahahahahahah.

bowtie are you just using wikipedia/forums or something? Do you have any real experience with cars of any kind? Subarus are some of the more reliable cars around and how exactly has it been proven that gm has the best 4wd system in the world?

oh btw 4wd and awd are very different.

you are digging yourself into a hole. if you think the l76 has been proven to go 500k, i doubt there is a single one out there yet.

just so you guys know, last year the lightning lap deal was done by multiple drivers, so if it's close it's pretty much up in the air which car performs better.

So, we all know by now that BowTieTillIdie likes to argue and flame rather than carry on a discussion, so until the mods ban him, let's ignore him. Anyway.... I think an AWD community giving us props is great. Makes me think how cool an AWD Cobaly SS would be. Here's hoping that the Saab X-drive comes into the next gen.

And no this isnt an easy pickup with rwd ..

Its a mid 90's gm car engine pull the works...

By the way guess how much I bought it for 5 years ago with 120k ... 5,500 .. sure hope you can fix that awsome subaru with what you have in your toolbox... you probably need the extra cash you saved in gas money just to pay for the repairs at your local subaru mechanic LOL

WOW !!!
yea the motor may last alright, save for going through 12 ignition modules, 3 transmissions, breaking the snapring that holds the output shaft in place in the transfer case, blowing the diff pin through the diff cover, replacing the front diff actuator at least 2 times, to name a few. no i didnt read all that, those are things im constantly fixing. im a transmission tech, i work at a private shop, and im constantly working on all those things on chevy trucks. they are a half decent truck, they will last usualy 100k miles before having major problems, but once they are passed that the problems start showing up. dont tell me im wrong, i can tell you why each thing i listed fails, ive worked on enough of it to know.

im not saying they are garbage, if i had to own an suv or 1/2 ton truck id have one, but i know whats in store and i know how to fix em.

a motor and a transmission does not classify as a car. i beleive it falls under the "motor and transmission on a pallet" catagory.

Very true. But 6 seconds isn't really close.

As far as the other forum giving respect. At post #12 shows ignorance. The guy didn't know the Cobalt was that fast. Post #13 stated a fact, "It even beat the EVO". Post #14 bashes the **** outta the new STi and then says "A front wheel drive Cobalt SS priced 10,000 less than an STI spanked it around a track! That is shocking, sad, and sickening." Not once did they say "The Cobalt is a good car" or "I respect the Cobalt".

Anyway, just my .02

Any acceptance the cobalt will get is going to be killed by arrogant owners. Especially the ones that haven't owned or driven anything faster, therefore thinking it's the fastest thing around .

so where does your extensive experience come from? you are on a car forum. If you think you're the only person that's ever done more than the average oil change you are sadly mistaken. There are multiple certified techs, engineers, and people that are just gearheads that have done massive builds. If you had all this experience and had a half a brain you wouldn't start talking about how good gm 4wd systems are when arguing about subarus.
