supercharged or turbocharged?
I am looking at getting a cobalt SS and need some opinions on which is better as far as mods and reliability the 05-07 supercharged SS or the 08-10 turbocharged

Both are just as reliable IMO. You'll obviously have more warranty time with a 08+, but they LNF will obviously make more power for cheaper. The LSJ can make just as much power though.
The LNF also has a better suspension stock for stock, more comfortable seats (IMO), and other various upgrades such as the Brembo brakes.

depends on what you buy.....to me turbo is better.....mainly because i find turbos are better on gas, are easier on engine components and so forth. thats just me.

LNF is a much stouter car. Has many upgrades done from the factory to make it a great DD. But the LSJ is cheap and can mod and make lots of power way easier. Kinda depends on if you want a solid DD or a big project car. But if you keep either one close to stock or lightly modded you'll get 35+mpg hwy and a fast car.

I used to own a 2006 Cobalt SS/SC, havn't really been paying attention to the changes in the Cobalts as I've been away from the car scene completely for awhile, but if they've improved the axle / wheel hop situation in the TC's over the SC's I'd go with one just for that....the TC's are going to make power easier due to Turbo over SC (turbo swaps are much MUCH easier than SC swaps...etc)
Trying to get traction in my Stage 2 SC on anything but a very good road was brutal and was always one of my pet peeve's with that car (IMO first gear is way too ******* short). I also hated that up high the stock SC simply runs out of breath, go with the TC IMO.

SC's are alot cheaper though. Then you can turno swap it. The LSJ can make more power right now due to injector limitations on the LNF. But the LNF doesn't need alot of upgrades to hit 300hp

I've never done a turbo swap, but swapping one SC to another is only a few bolts. Not that many people leave the M62.
First gear is short for sure, I have a 2.8 on mine and don't have too much trouble getting traction. Just had to relearn the car.
What is your up high? 8000 RPM?
OP,
Either way you'll be happy, I love the sound of SC whine but the SS/SC is a little more "rough around the edges" than the TC. Get whichever one fits your budget and what you want out of it, they are both fairly quick cars and can have fun with and modify either to the extreme.
