Sway Bars Anyone?

I spoke with Gravana Tuning and they informed me that the Eibach sway bar set has been back burnered. So no arrival date for any sway bars for our cars. The alternative is for us as Cobalt owners to solicit some bars from say Hotchkis Tuning who does excellent work with adjustable sway bars. They currently fab some for a host of American, Import and Sport Compact cars. They usually have quality bushings (that don't squeak) and offer some front and rear adjustability as well. These are a must for the weekend autocrosser or track event junkie.

Anyone want to join me in emailing or contacting Hotchkis to let them know we want some bars for our cars. In the alternative vote for whether you would buy aset of the front and rear matched sway bars from Hotchkis. Total for both bars usually runs around $375-390 for the the set with bushings.

Good call there. But being that my most extreme cornering involves me going from one freeway to another, I'll have to pass.

Well what the poll says is yes you are interested if the cost is less than $400. If it is more than $400 then no. I think the price plays a part in the decision. I mean everyone could vote "yes" and then the company fabs them for $1000 and then everyone runs away..

As well balanced as the SS/SC is there is no need for larger sway bars. Bigger bars will just make it a pain in the ass.

Not to my knowledge. I am suggesting Hotchkis because the guys at Gravana tuning are right near Hotchkis and can lend a Cobalt to Hotchkis to do thew bars if interest is enough. I have used Hotchkis bars on all my autocross and track machines as well as street cars. Great products. I had them on my FXT/STI/Civic/GSR and know a few guys with them on their Celica GTS and GTOs...great stuff.

Wait, Are we talking about the same cars here?

These cars NEED better sway bars in a bad way.

Even everyday non spirited drivers would benefit from them. A simple set of sway bars can turn your everyday hohum commute into a blast.

I'd buy a set of Hotchkis sway bars in a heartbeat!

Hotchkis > Eibach anyways...

The SS/SC is well balanced?! Granted, it's better than the Cavaliers were and better than the 2.2 Cobalts, but it needs a LOT of work to be a well balanced car. WAY too much body roll.

George, let me know what you find out, I'd be more than happy to join in the e-mail crusade. Hotchkis rocks, I'd love both front and rear sways. I'm assuming the $375-$390 figure is for the adjustables? If so that's a freakin' steal. I thought the Eiback kit was going to be $350 for a non-adjustable setup.

By the way George, I think what people were getting at was there should be two more options "Yes, regardless of cost." and "No, regardless of cost."

May be...but I didn't do it that way because we really don't need to know how many "wouldn't buy them"...we just need to know who would and for how much and I am lazy so I didn't type alot...

Well I am just saying that bigger sway bars aren't the " fix all " that people think they are when it comes to suspension.

With the effects that larger vs smaller bars have there is more to it than just throwing on larger bars.

Once we get to 30 sets, I will team up with Gravana and get Hotchkis' attention. Hopefully they'll move on them right away. I'll keep yunz (Pittsburghese) posted.

I just spoke with Bernie at Hotchkis Tuning. He seemed very intrigued by the amount of interest our little sway bar thread has created. I have sent him the link and expressed Gravana's support to lend a Cobalt SS to Hotchkis for fabrication work. Let's see if this takes off and we finally get a top of the line sway bar set.

Good point. I will pass it along. I don't see why they won't may be different end links but they should be compatible.

I would also buy a set at or near those prices...won't help with the 1/4 mile but for my drive there and back I'm all about eliminating body roll....
