Tail lights

Can anyone give me any insight on tinting tail lights? Does this stuff work?: (IE look good and still have light shine through?)

VHT Niteshades Spray Tint & Quick Clearcoat Package - Lights & Bulbs

Or should I just suck it up and buy some tail lights, if so- what are some cool smoked ones?

If you like the stock taillights, just make sure you wet sand after you do coats of the night shade. You will have a better finish.

It works but IMO its a pain in the **** if you ever need to go through inspection. No inspections? then spray away, but for me its alot easier just to swap out lights then to strip and re-paint every other year (yep DE inspections suck!)

you do not have to sand on your tail lights before using vht, imo you will be able to see the marks, just make sure you clean them very well before painting

^^^Wrong.

Wetsand your taillights before you spray, just use a 2000 grit sand paper. and make sure you clear coat it

^^ This. Get all the shiney stuff off with 1500-2000 grit. Then wash and rinse to make sure their CLEAN.

-Then 4 light coats of VHT. Let completly dry between coats.
-Then wetsand with 2000. Rinse well and let completly dry.
-Then 4 light coats of Clear. Let completly dry between coats.

I put them in the oven at 180 degress for 1/2 hour after the last coat of Clear dried (Wifey was not home). The process took a whole day.

They came out a dark cherry colour. I'm happy with the results.

Would it be worth it to just buy some aftermarket smoked ones?
