I've worked at a dealership in the past and just to give you a little insight, no you do not want it off the truck. There will be a lot of flaws if you take it right off the truck. They are usually dirty from being transported, sometimes they get little nicks and scrapes and must have panels painted at the dealer, they have to go through a quality contorl check again to make sure that everything works etc...

CONGRATS and welcome to the family!

Heres the deal when it comes in on the truck. It needs to be PDIed, basicly they have to go around the whole car and make sure it ok. check the oil, the brakes, take it around the lot to listen for any weird sounds, wash it, wax it, basicly get it ready for you to take home and love. It usualy takes only a few hours to do this but if they got a full truck load then they may not be doing yours first...which kinda sucks since you ordered it.

It should be ready real soon so hope to see pics of it around here when you get her!

I have worked at a dealer also, and after seeing how some of the employees treat the cars, I would want it right off the truck and do all of that my self or watch them while they do it.

ok and do you guys get money for that already or do you have to adjust your prices accordingly?? cause the dealership i went to at first to buy a mazda3 added 1700$ on every car they sold for that ****. i asked them how it could cost that much to do a final check on a car when it came off the truck and they wouldnt tell me anything. but thats 10$ an hour for 17 hours. kinda ridiculous

Now did you special order it or what? If so, how do you do that? Can you just say, "yeah I want a Cobalt SS Supercharged in black with the Rocero seats, the blue inserts, and the spoiler", or do you have to choose from a pre-made model.

I took pictures of mine "off the truck", and yes it was dirty, there was mobil 1 on the valve cover, and what i can only assume was lock tite around the small gap between the SC snout and housing.

They took care of all that stuff when I took delievery, so yeah that PDI is important.

You could do that, but might confuse whoever inputs the order if theyre not all too familiar with all the options.

Its better to do some research, find out all the option codes for the things you want, then go tell the dealer you want a cobalt SS supercharged with such and such option codes.

That's funny because when I test drove my SS (which I bought the next day) it had 5 miles on it, 7 after I was done. I'm glad it did though because that way they only could have beat on it for less time. Plus, when I bought it they filled it up with a full tank of regular gasoline. I was like "thanks a lot...I guess"

But does it cost extra? Also, how long does it take for the order to complete if you order it?

Doesn't cost extra per se, but you do (at least I did) have to give a $1000 deposit before they will order the car for you. As soon as it comes in that $1000 will be put towards your down payment, so basically you dont lose anything.

As far as how long it takes to complete the order, mine took several weeks due to constraints at the factory so I'm not sure how long it should normally take. Once your order is entered at the dealership your work is done though. After that its a matter of GM picking up the dealerships order.

Total time it took for my car to get to me was 4 months, but I think now that the 07's have been around a while it shouldnt take so long.

Our service dept got in trouble from GM for doing just what you said above. All GM dealers are to drive the vehicle for 10 miles for the PDI process to make sure the vehicle is sound before giving it to the customers. We even had to pay back GM for some of the PDI's that were not done correctly. Some were only driven for 8 miles and our GM warranty rep stuck it to us .

Since I work here I done the PDI myself so I got to put on my own 10 miles. I even signed the paperwork that the truck driver has with him when he unloads the hauler.

The cool thing is when I drove it for the 10 miles, I entered our shop and installed my GMPP exhaust even before I done the paperwork to purchase the car

Ive been playing so much I forgot to even post back on here lol, I picked it up yesterday at noon with a whooping 4 miles on it, Im already up to 173 I must say this is easily the most fun ive had in YEARS. You cant beat the smile off my face. As much as I want to lay into it I havent, it hasnt seen more than 4000rpm and it wont till I get at least a few thousand on it.

So yea it was a special order and a 2007 cause I wanted the comp package and I got the 6 disk changer and no sunroof no other options, as far as mods there wont be any for months Im hurting pretty bad until the cavalier is sold then ill be fine. I just ordered the car on November 8th so it didnt take long at all to come in, I was told 4-6 weeks but actually took 3. As was expected didnt come with the Recaros but the ass warmers are def nice

So on with the pics!

ther is a coat that the factory puts on the paint to make it easier for the dealer to clean the car.. they have to take that off and put a new coat of wax on ull be happy they did that

Yeah i'm waiting for my ss to come in too. i ordered it on like nov 4th and the dealer called me last week to tell me it was built and is in line to be shipped. he said it would be in around the 15th. I'm not planning on buying it untill the new year becasue i dont want to pay taxes on it twice.

As far as down payment to order it, i only paid 200, why put more money down on something you can even see or touch. that is one rule in business my parents taught me, never pay untill the services are delivered.

ps. silver is pretty slick looking, it would probably be my 2nd choice.
