tired and car is acting strange

I got a used weapon-r damper a week ago. I went to install it tonight. I mounted the brackets and found that I needed to get some new nuts for the actual damper. I left the brackets on and figured everything would be fine.

I pull out my car to go home from the garage we have lift in. I notice first gear it unusually noisy. I go about 2 blocks and I’m hearing a lot of extra noise. I turn around and go back. The mounts seem nice and tight, so I decide to drive home…

The car is fine in most of third gear. I hear no noises at all in forth. I start wondering so I try the low gears again. I would swear that I had no exhaust from how loud it is in first. Hit second and the sound is nearly gone. Also it gets worse with the wheel to the left and goes away completely with the wheel to the right.

Anyway, it is too late to check it more closely and it is too dark as well. I would appreciate any input though. I don’t think it is the mounts even though it was the only piece I actually touched tonight. They seem secure and functioning correctly.

Odd, I just figured the mounts weren't tight enough. I went back and tightened them the next day after work. I was really hoping that would solve the noise issue. Unless the brackets themselves are making this noise, I think it is just coincidence that it happened after putting them on.

I’m really having a hard time tracking down this noise. There are three areas that I suspect though. The passenger side CV joint is a little loose, but not sure it is making all that noise. It is just slightly loose.

My rotors haven’t looked right since I got the car. Gm would fix them earlier because the error was within acceptable limits or something. Seems like it could be a rotor/break issue though, possibly a grabbing or rotation issue. The fact that turning the wheel takes from the noise though and the worse at low speeds makes that seem less likely.

I’m not so sure it isn’t bearings or even a timing issue in the engine. The trouble is that it is impossible to replicate the sound without being in gear, so I put it on the lift and replicate the noise to track it down. Everything external looks fine for the most part, so it is going to be fun tracking this down. I figured it was going to be an easy fix the next day. I’ll update you guys if I finally do figure this out.

it possibly could be you mounted the bracket wrong, or the fact that its not finished it could be the fact that its setting a vibration through the mount, which is connected to the car...

Let us know if you get it solved.

removed the mount brackets. It works fine now no noise or issues. They were a used deal and here is what they look like.

Are these even the right ones? They don't seem right and this is the only place they will fit.
