I try not complain about gas prices, the oil industry pays my bills. My husband drives an F150, he is spending nearly $80 every fill up. He also drives like a total tool. My Jeep goes 250 miles on a tank of gas, I pay $45 for a fill up in it. The good thing about the Jeep though is I only drive it like twice a week since I got the Cobalt. I have even started considering selling it. I love the miles per gallon the Cobalt gets though. My husband nor myself have ever had a automobile that got better than 20 miles to the gallon, so needless to say the Cobalt has really impressed us on that note.

If you have an SC are you supposed to use premium? Or are you just using it for better performance?

91 or better for the SS/SC. I generally get 93 since 91 is harder to find.

It feels better with 94 and I get about 25 extra km a tank. Not really worth it but ah well. Atleast I look cool when I gas.

Ahh ok.

I know you are supposed to use the higher octane gasolines for the higher compressions in performance engines.

But I wasn't sure if a stock SC qualified for that mark

I've said in a couple posts im car shopping right now. With gas prices the way they are, I have to factor in monthly gas cost into what the payments would be. Just like you should factor in how much insurance is going to be before you make your purchase. (unless your rich )

Right now I'm driving a 91 Jimmy. At the moment I only have to drive 10 minutes to work and back. But during school, my internship job is about a 45-50 minute drive (going about 55-60mph). Driving about 45miles one way, 3 times a week is going to kill me.

Plus its all beat to ****. I need a new car, lol. The 30mpg looks nice, although some other cars like the Civic even put that to shame. However, the sportiness and the fact I get GMS discount keeps swinging me back over here.

The car can sense what octane if has and retards timing accordingly. You are susceptibel to knocking if you use anything lower than 91 I believe.

$3.29 usually for Premium here in SE Michigan. I drive 120 miles a day usually so I spend almost $40 every 3 days.

Yeah, your legislators seem to be a bit too willing to up your gas taxes and increase the number of "special mixtures" of gas. Connecticut is right on your tail though; it cost me $37 the other week to fill my car up on regular.

As much as i know gas prices suck....please keep in mind that while it might be expensive. your still paying less than just about the whole planet.
Canada is sitting at about $4 US a gallon
Australia is sitting at about $4.50 US a gallon
and you dont even want to sniff what the brits are paying.

but ive had the gas argument a few times and it boils down to 1 thing.

and its the same thing i say whenever gas prices come up.

If gas was $10 a gallon tommorow. youd still pay it. your neighbour will still pay it.
Everyone will pay it. because you have no choice.

Just think of it as another reason to laugh at the 5.7ltr Dodge ram beside you on the freeway.

Or the idiot rollin his Escalade down the road on his 24 inch rims.

At least you made the right choice and chose a car with excellent fuel economy.

Shesh, time to sell the Silverado. Costing me $80 or so to fill up and I do it at just under a 1/4 tank. Least I get ~17 in the city and ~22 highway.

That's the main reason I bought it. Whenever I start missing my S10, I remember paying $30+ for half a tank of gas- every week. No regrets here!

And that's the worst part about it, we would in fact pay it. We have no choice and they know it.

As far as what everyone else pays, 1) we buy in bulk 2)their taxes are higher and 3) It doesn't matter what other country's are paying because of 1 and 2 and they aren't the US.
