Tradin' for SSSC Monday

Monday I pick up my new SSSC, Rally Yellow. Trading in 2001 Stratus R/T coupe. I am hoping I can keep the same 'feeling' of torque that I get in the R/T. It is a pretty quick car.

Anyone here driven both cars - comment?

I have not driven the SSSC yet, but the Dodge is at its useful 60k limit! (And my insurance drops $20/month!!)

haha uh. I'm sure you'll get a much better feeling in this than a stratus.

My dad has a 2002 r/t coupe and theres no way it would keep up with a SS/SC. I think you'll get a better feeling.

Actually it will feel pretty similar to the R/T. It will all depend on what the torque curve is for the Stratus. The SS/SC to me feels like it pics up a lil faster, probably due to the supercharger. The engines have almost identical specs. Unfortunately you're making the swap from a 3.0 liter V6 to a 2.0 liter 4-cyl. The only other thing you should keep in mind is you're going to a car that's 300lbs lighter, so it really should feel faster, that's a pretty big difference for two cars which have virtually the same power.

I hope you mistyped and meant to say 3226. If it weighs in at 4226 then it's no wonder Dodge doesn't make them anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHen you hit 4,000 Rpm and 5,000 rpm there is no way you will ever be dissapointed. You will be very very pleased.

the door tags are not accurate for curn weight, my friends reigistration on his reads 3584 pounds, so hell yea they are heavy. Honestly man, as for speed, i beat it to 0-85(about 1/4 mile) by about a car and half, maybe 2 cars. They run about 16 flat in the quarter and 0-60 in 8 seconds, so they are about an equal match for the 2.2 ecotec. I drive the 2.2 and took it in my car. My ss/sc was hit and totalled, and having driven the ss/sc for a few months and riding the the stratus r/t, you will definitly notice a humongous difference.

No, 4226 is gross vehicle weight (maximum vehicle can safely weigh with cargo & passengers). Vehicle weight is 3254 lbs, so about 300 more than an SS/SC. The R/T is likely more comparable speed and performance wise to a 2.4L SS.

What color/options are you getting?

I was worried about the feeling of torque also. My previous ride was a 94 Mazda B4000 pickup that had a 4.0 V6 with around 220 lb-ft. of torque and low gearing for towing. It would set you back in the seat pretty good if you wanted it to. I test drove the SS S/C. Lets say that I didn't drive my truck again after that. I even made my sister drive it to the dealership to trade it in, while I drove the Cobalt.

I traded a 96 Z24 for the R/T. It felt to me that the Z24 would have beat it, but not sure.

2006 SSSC is Rally Yellow, only options are sunroof and XM. $19226 out the door.

The price is great, especially since my target price was 19500! The salesman just kept finding more discounts!

Just a follow up.

Had the new ss/sc for a week now. I must admit that at first I was disappointed with the 'fee' of the car. Didn't seem to have the power I had expected. Of course I had not driven it hard either. Just felt weaker than the R/T.

Tonight, however, after spending a week of being hounded by every redneck with a loud pickup (must be the wing!) I could take no more and unleashed the SC. WOW, the poor redneck in the loud truck must have **** himself! He had been riding my tail for about half a mile, then he dropped back and punched it. I would guess he was going about 50 when he got alongside my bumper (I was cruising about 35). That was as close as he could get once I opened up! I doubt he could have even read my tags in the amount of time he had to see my back end!

Not dissappointed anymore!
