Traffic Citations Different States?

Ok so i recently took a little trip in the Balt, i live in Texas covered about 1,200 miles in a single night (5 Hour Energy FTW) to Florida. Hung out for the weekend and even went to a meet before i went back home again.

So obviously covering 1,200 miles in a single night, and doing it again a few days later(over 2,500 total to my mileage counter), i was tired of driving and speeding like a **** to get home and sleep..

unfortunately i got a speeding ticket on my way home in Louisiana, my question is if i live in Texas and i dont pay the ticket in Louisiana will anything happen??? If i get pulled over here will they see i have a warrant issued in another state? Just dont feel like wasting 200 bucks cuz some ***** tagged me as i crossed a tiny little bridge over a bayou (reduced speed on bridge BS).

Your input would be much appreciated.

Also please refrain from any "shouldnt have been speeding" comments thanks. i already know

I believe you do have to pay it. I got a window tint ticket in GA after doing a 1 day trip to there from FL, and it cost me $200. All the information that I found led me to believe that I had to pay or there would be a warrant for me. There may be ways of getting around it, but I figured $200 is better then possible jail time, and more fines.

Funny you ask.

I live in MO and was traveling to Texas for vacation. I got a speeding ticket in OK on my way there and then one in TX on my way back. I was like..."PFFFT. I'm not paying those. I don't even live there."

Well guess what..? About two weeks ago I get 2 notices from the Missouri Department of Revenue stating my license will be suspended on blah blah blah date for not appearing in court/paying fines. Had to pay my fines in those states PLUS late fees.

So, yes... pay your tickets, you'll save about $160/ticket in late fees. Trust me.

Your license will probably be suspended. Not sure if Louisiana will issue a bench warrant for and FTA, but if they do Louisiana and Texas are pretty close and they may extradite you if you are ever pulled over.

Dont speed if you dont wanna deal with the consequence.

I have a bench warrant in KS for failing to appear for a U-turn ticket and I live like 2 miles from the KS/MO border and they can't extradite. ALSO... did not get a suspension notice from that ticket but that was about 2 years ago.

I'd just pay the ticket to avoid any possible trouble. It might not effect you in Texas, but is $200 worth never being able to enter another state without the fear of being arrested and thrown in jail? For me it isn't

all i know about it is points dont carry between states so if you get pulled over and get 3 pts in KS and live in TX you dont have points in TX
im not sure how it works with fines tho

The system that issued you the ticket will report it to the DMV (especially if you don't pay it). The vast majority of the state DMVs are on a network where they trade info back and forth about stuff like....tada! unpaid tickets.

So you will end up getting suspended in your home state for failure to pay.

I ran into this between WI and NV.

While I don't think every single state is part of it, $200 isn't worth that dice roll IMO.

Go sell some plasma for a few weeks, and it'll be nothin' but a thang.

Hmmm, hearing some of these stories makes me feel way better about my recent suspension in IL, lol. Well, I won't say 'better.' Apparently two 39 in a 30 tickets in two years is enough to lose your license for 3 months in this damn state... Can't wait to move to Carolina.

most states wont chase you just send a letter to the state you hold a license in and then that state will suspend your license, what people try to do is get a license in another state if there current one is suspended it doesnt work.

states CAN extradite you but wont becuase it will end up costing more money than the ticket is worth so they dont. in texas we cant even get other counties to come get their violators from our jail so we just let them go and tell me good luck

I didn't brother to read through all of the posts above, but I got a ticket 3ish years ago in ohio for speeding and never paid for it. Never heard anything from it again. But wont be traveling through there anytime soon.
But a friend of mine had a similar situation and couldn't renew his license until he paid his off. As far as I know, certain states link to other states as far as that sort of thing goes and some don't.

I've had like six different insurance agencies in the last few years, none of them have known about my speeding ticket in ohio.

For others, they can add charges and put the bill/lean on your credit report which will cause you problems later.

Ohio doesn't communicate with michigan for enforcement, but they do tell your insurance.

California put mine on my credit report. I live in michigan.

it can be different state to state for some things. i know people that have gotten their license suspended in indiana but were able to go to kentucky and get a license. something about kentucky being a common wealth or something. however, their license was still void in indiana. im not sure if it works the same way with tickets or not.
