Trailer hitch question (SS)

Hey, so I've got a 2010 SS, and I want to throw a trailer hitch on my car cause I love mountain biking, but theres no way in hell the bikes going inside the car lol. I looked on some hitch website earlier today and they said "Not for SS model" why's that? The exhaust or something? Anyone know of a place I can get a hitch setup for my car?

I'm pretty sure it can be done. If your interested in transporting your bike have you ever thought about going the roof rack route?

I have the roof rack for my car. If you go that route you have to spread the bars out further than what's recommended. It was very dangerous with my giant reign on the roof with the bars in the normal position as the back bar was like inches from the inches from the front tire. Its basically acts as a pivot point and the entire back of the bike has no support as 80% of the bike is behind the back bar.

I find it very strange that Yakima allows cobalt owners to put a bike on our roofs but does not allow or recommend a kayak. My kayak is a hellllll of a lot more stable on my roof than my bike with my bars in the recommended position.

Oh damn rear lip lol I have some Yakima roof racks, but they don't seem to be very sturdy.. They're the ones that kind of hook into the frame of the car through the door flap then tighten some stupid strap till they're held, doesn't seem very safe to me lol.

It's not the bike holder that's the problem. It's the fact that there isn't enough support from the bars underneath the bike. Since I've spread the bars out it's a bit more solid.

I have the high roller attachment and I use ratchet straps around the handle bars and the front bars of the roof rack and it doesnt budge a inch.

Roof rack for sure. I still wish Yakima would make a stretch kit for our cars.

your very welcome, FYI order the "special tool" that they will suggest. its a wire kinda like a guitar string that has a threaded spring thing on it which allows you to put a bolt inside the frame of the car for mounting the hitch. You HAVE to have it. it might come with one but i would spend the $2 just incase.

I just ordered that hitch and installed it two days ago. I agree that the bolt leader makes the installation so much easier. I had it on in under and hour and now I can pull my trailer behind the cobalt.

You guys are pulling stuff with your cars? Are u using a manual transmission? If you are you probably shouldn't. It says not to in the owners manual.

The complete set up? How much?

I'm only getting one to attach a bike rack to my car so I can do some mountain biking! I'm kind of sick of going to the 2 places within biking distance of my house lol :/
