Trailer Wire Harness

Hello,
I found this wire harness so that you can hook up trailer lights and a trailer (Already have the hitch reciever) to pull a trailer up to 1000 lbs with a 100 lb toungue weight. (Weight restrictions in the owners manual)

The video shows how to do it on a 2008 and up cobalt. It doesnt say if it works on the LS or LT or SS or all of them.

I have an 06, SS/SC. Are all the tail light connectors the same? Where it wouldn't matter? If so then what works on one cobalt will work on all of them.

Unsure why it's a different harness for sedan and coupe, same bulb and I think it only connects to the two brake/parking lights.

You have a hitch already?

Is it different? I was just asking if it was. I think you're right, it should work. I did find that its a diff pn for diffrent years.

and yes I have a hitch reciever already. I use it to transport my bike. But I figured why not get a light wire just in case.

The T-One connector you need is a 118407.

Vehicle Wiring Information:

2 wire system. No Converter required, but a ModuLiteŽ can be used.

Installation Time: 15 min

edit: That's my job, I work for the trailer division of Robert Thibert Inc.

edit2: 118398 is not good, it fits 4 dr applications.

OP could you take a couple pictures of the rear of the car with just the hitch there, trying to decide how objectionable it is on an SS coupe. Really want one for camping.

1 1/4" reciever from Drawtite.
This is on my 06 SS/SC Coupe The second picture is with a 2" reciever adaptor, that I needed for my bike rack.

Wow thanks. That's a lot more discrete than all the other pictures make it look. I was worried about it sticking out like a sore thumb like it does on the SS/NA and base models

My 2" adaptor sticks out some, but even that's not bad at all.
I mostly use mine for my bike rack to carry my mt bike.

How's the ground clearance change? Looks like it hangs down 1-2"?

Where does the end of the 1-1/4" hitch sit so far as depth from the lower lip?

It does hang down an inch or two. The video gives you the dimentions you ask for. I havn't measured mine, but the dimentions given in the video sound about right and Ive never had any
ground clearance issues with it. Because of my driveway angle, I do have to be careful with my bike carrier though.

Ok just measured mine,
I have 8" of clearance between the hitch and ground. It's about the same as the muffler. Also, the end part of the reciever is 4" forward of the bumper. So the bumper sticks out 4" farther then the hitch does.

Awesome, thanks buddy. That really reinforces me wanting to get one. Would you recommend yours or one of the 3 others that all seem to be the same one rebranded?

I'd reccomend mine. But I see you're 2009 and I'm 2006. I don't know if anything changed in the rear end between our cars though. Just make sure youg get the one that works with your year.

No change between the years so far as that's involved.

I baught the drawtite one. The only thing I would reccomened would be to use Locknuts instead of regular nuts. I know they have the conical lockwaseres, but I felt safer ith locknuts from Lowes. I just took one of the carriage bolts to lowes with me to find one that would fit.
