Tranny!!!
ok guys. i dont know to much about gearing and gear ratios in a tranny so if i go from the 3.82 gears to a 4.05, am i even going to notice anything? the 3.82 is technically faster?
And my tranny just took a **** so if you have one for sale, let me know. LSD only please.

the lower the number the faster the theoretical top speed, but at the cost of acceleration. so if going from a 4.05 to a 3.82 you will accelerate slower, have a higher theoretical top speed, and rm while cruising at the same speed will be lower.
your better with the 4.05. it performs better and is stronger than the 3.82.

I think I better start looking for a 4.05 LSD just in case, those things are going to be worth their weight in gold soon lol.

the article has it backwards. the lsj has a 4.05 and the lnf has the 3.82. gm changed to the 3.82 in the lnf because the engines torque curve works better with a taller gear ratio. the 3.82 is also weaker because it puts more load on 3rd gear, and thats the reason lnf guys put the 4.05 lsj trans in.
dont believe me? look at the tag on your transmission.

i have it backwards? ive owned a cobalt for nearly 10 years, and been part of the community the entire time. im also a certified transmission builder. a random wikipedia article written by someone who likely has never seen a cobalt must know better. the article has it backwards. the lsj has a 4.05 and the lnf has the 3.82. gm changed to the 3.82 in the lnf because the engines torque curve works better with a taller gear ratio. the 3.82 is also weaker because it puts more load on 3rd gear, and thats the reason lnf guys put the 4.05 lsj trans in. dont believe me? look at the tag on your transmission.

I know Wikipedia isn't a viable source, but I'm still kind of surprised it's so blatantly wrong haha.
Good ol uni profs, "you can't use Wikipedia as source, but I will in my slides".
