Unbelievable

So, I just went on Kelly blue books web site, because I was curious just how much value my car has lost with the roll out of the 06's, and man was I upset by what I saw.

Trade in value, in good condition (wasnt going to kid my self by saying excellent) was listed at $7,365.

How the hell does a car that is less than a year old lose $6,000 in value that quickly???

Sorry, just needed to throw that out there.

That does sound kind of low, but KBB trade in value is a joke. Try the retail or private seller value instead. The "trade in value" is simply a ridiculously low number that dealerships use to talk you into giving your trade in away for almost free.

I am at 7,779, but I just listed it as 8000 even.
I didnt think that 300 miles would make or break me.

I just out of curiosity checked in "Excellent" condition, and it was listed as 7,965.00

Its also a 2dr base, with spoiler. But thats it, otherwise, there are no other factory insalled options on it. I was expecting somewhere closer to 9,000.00

the retail/ private partys are more upwards towards 9-10K. that should make us feel better.

That DOES help, I actually went back and saw that, BUT, in all likelyhood, if I am going to get rid of this car, it would be at a dealer as a trade in towards an SS/SC.

I just think its funny because trade in on this is only 4000.00 more than what the trade in on my 99 Z24 was with 120,000 miles on it.

try to do the trade in value of the car with 30,000 Miles on it. Chances are you will probably only see a dfference of a few hundred dollars. Your car loses the most value the first year after you buy it, after that its very slow and progressive.

I had a Nissan SE-R KBB said the trade on it in good condition (Second best) was 9000 dollars. I traded this car in on my 06 SS and they gave me 10,700 for it. So thats not 100% accurate # thats the AVERAGE.

Don't feel bad, A couple of dealers told me they could only give me " auction value " for my SS/SC. There were only 3 SS/SC that went through auction and they went for less than $16K. Funny thing is they were all owned by GM. Can you say beat on demos.

By the way KBB is a joke go to NADA.

Not necessarily. Just use whichever has the higher value for your car

Yea, cars loose A LOT of value after they're driven off the lot. My cavy went from 19500 to 13500 in 10 months. That was NADA. KBB was even less. Thankfully insurance went with NADA.

Face the facts.. It's true believe it or not! A car IS not an investment its a liability. Just another appliance, does your refrigerater washer /dryer retain its initial cost? NO of course not. You could buy a New one that never had any rotten eggs in it. Or buy a slightly used one for WAY less.

Do you think if you bought an SS/SC and never drove it for 30 years, would you be able to sell it for more than what you payed?

It really depends on the total production number, and it really depends on how many last that long!!! I'm keeping mine with very low miles on it and it's fully loaded!!!

Correct. Domestic Cars DO NOT hold as much value as foreign cars. Plus buying a car is the WORST investment anyone can make because they lose so much value once you drive it off the lot

Actually I dealers quote which ever book has the lowest trade value, but use the one with the highest retail value on there car.

Not to mention alot of dealers have gave me this auction price bullshit lately.

Consumer Rated Condition: Excellent
"Excellent" condition means that the vehicle looks new, is in excellent mechanical condition and needs no reconditioning. This vehicle has never had any paint or body work and is free of rust. The vehicle has a clean title history and will pass a smog and safety inspection. The engine compartment is clean, with no fluid leaks and is free of any wear or visible defects. The vehicle also has complete and verifiable service records. Less than 5% of all used vehicles fall into this category.

Trade-In Value List Your Car For Sale Online $39,100
Trade-in Value is what consumers can expect to receive from a dealer for a trade-in vehicle assuming an accurate appraisal of condition. This value will likely be less than the Private Party Value because the reselling dealer incurs the cost of safety inspections, reconditioning and other costs of doing business.
