View on the Cobalt?
On all models...do you guys believe this is american muscle? Import? or both meshed together....
I believe its a mesh, but more import...none the less a great car with a great ecotec engine 2.2 or 2.4L and the SS SC.
The only thing I would like to see in the cobalt is a 2600lbs to it... or less...

I think in no way, shape, or form is this an import. It's an American economy car that you can get on steroids. Plain an simple. Muscle implies power...which these cars really don't have. Comparatively speaking.

It's a mix of alota different countries. For everyone that thinks it's american, wake up. Just because it has a bowtie on the front doesn account for more than half of what makes up the car being import.

My take is that it is an *american branded* car very heavily based off of european platforms from subdivisions of GM GLOBAL (not GM USA/NA).
The car itself is based off of the delta platform - basically an Opel Astra wearing different clothes.
The engine is an Ecotec - which was developed by GM *GLOBAL* (GM usa - GM eu - Saab - Holden - VXH) with a bit of help from Lotus. The engines are basically the same as the Saab 9-3 2.0T except change the "T" to an "SC"
The Transmission is the F-35 unit from the Saab 9-3 (Hell they didn't even change the damn shift knob!).
Suspension tuning was done in germany with lots of help from Lotus (who else could get a twist-beam rear end to out handle some of the IRS setups out there?).
Is it european? is it american? Who knows.... Alot of the parts have "Saab" stamped on them. Alot of the parts are not made in the USA. The car is *assembled* in the USA by americans. It does have the "chevy" badge on it. It drives like a euro car but sounds raspy like a tuner car. Hell...even General Motors is not an "american owned" company....hell...I have stock in GM and I am not american. The lines are blurred when it comes to Publiclly traded companies. GM was founded and first established in the US. but these days...large companies and global markets with subdivisions founded and based in other countries that have been bought and are now part of the larger corperate entity...it is hard to know what is what.
The SS is just a great car utilizing technologies owned and/or developed by GM. GM utilized the proper divisions to focus on various aspects of the car and pulled all the solutions together and packaged them in a way that would appeal to the desired market.
I am not trying to start an argument...as I think that the SS is a great car no matter what part of the globe you are driving it on

its neither american muscle or import, its a domestic tuner, the reason for that is its made in america which rules out the import, and its not really mucle because its missing 4 cylenders.

Domestic/sportcompact/tuner. Made in the US, by an American based company, it's a sporty-compact car and it has potential right out of the box to be tuned for higher performance. The car was designed to compete in a market "niche" that was dominated by Japanese cars.

Its just a sports compact....
American, I guess... but the sssc engine is made in Germany and other parts are manufactured likewise. But anyother car will have the same thing, so when you rule that out, it is just an american sports compact, (the ss models at least). The rest are just compacts.
