It WASNT a dream.....

So, Wednesday afternoon I go to check the mail. It was a regular day like any other, and I certainly had no suspicions about anything looming in my near future.
I grab the mail and head inside. I look through all the bills, nothing exciting, until I get to the last peice of mail. Theres a letter in there to me from the dealership where I bought my Z24 back in 2001. I figured it is probably just notification of a presidents day sale for the upcoming weekend.

I opened the letter to find out that this particular dealership is having a kind of sale that I have never heard of before. A GM buyback sale. I called the number on the letter to see what it was about.
I was connected instantly with the sales manager, who informed me that his dealership was in desperate need of used cars, and where buying them back at or above fair trade value.
At this point I was suspect of this "Sale". But I humored him and set an appointment to go in after work yesterday.
I was excited and nervous all at the same time. I was thinking to my self, what IF I happen to walk out of there tomorrow with a new car? The car that I have been dreaming of for almost two years? Wouldnt that be something!
I was pretty hard pressed for sleep that night. The next morning (Yesterday) I woke up in a haze, having not slept nearly enough. I went to work and the minutes crept by at a snails pace. They where lasting as long as hours and my patience was wearing thin.
Finally, Noon came. I grabbed my things and was out the door!
I rushed home in excitement, took all of the aftermarket parts from my Base Slowbalt, and returned it to stock.
I drove to the dealership, nervous as hell.
I walk in, the sales manager that told me to come in was off for the day. I lost a little bit of hope but I persisted.
I sat down with a very nice salesman, who did an appraisal of my car.
Now, I looked up on KBB.com the trade in value of my car in good condition. It was 7200.00 and some change.
He does his appraisal and calls the sales manager. They said they will give me 10,000.00 for my car.
My heart jumped into my throat, and I had to have them repeat that to me.
I realized that this was happening.
Jeff (My salesman) says, lets go test drive your car while they run your credit. So we went out for a test drive, and I was instantly in love.
We come back, and 3.5 hours later, I walked out of that dealership the PROUD new owner of an Ultra Silver 2006 Chevy Cobalt SS/SC.

The car is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!! And it drives like a dream! I love it!

Anyway, I woke up this morning, and realized that it was infact NOT a dream, and that that had all happened!

Sorry for the long read!

Not sure how much you needed from the trade in to break even but I hope you didn't take a big hit on trading the car in. Good luck with your new purchase

If you really wanted a ss/sc, and you are willing to pay for it, I say it was worth it. You only live once. Money comes and goes. I didn't think there was any way in hell I would get mine when I went to the dealership and 2 hours later I'm driving it home. I love my car!

If you're that unsure about a $21k car then you definitely can't afford it.

I wasn't sure I could get it because of my credit, not because I couldn't afford it. My credit wasn't bad, but as the salesman called it "young" meaning I didn't have a long credit history. I work two jobs, I have my ss/sc and a 2004 cavalier. All my bills are always paid, so obviously I can afford it.

ditto, my sis got a letter from the dealership saying they wanted to buy her 2000 base cav. But she had tottaled the car the previous year. and the wrecked car was sent to the same dealer (in hope for repair) that sent the letter.

my theory is: Chevy is embaresed to have cavaliers still out on the road, so they want to replace them with cobalts. I think its a slick advertising scheme, it targets loyal chevy owners and makes them feel like they are getting a good deal, which in most casses they are.

either way congrats!

Thanks all!

It really is a night and day differance compared to the Basebalt.
I just cant wait until the engine is passed the break in point, so that I can really get a feel for her.

I realize that I took a hit on it, but I knew what I was getting my self into.

Carpe Diem: Seize the day

The bottom line was that I wanted the SS/SC, and I had the means, so why not be happy?

She is everything I Imagined.

The shifter is a LOT tighter than what was in the basebalt, and I would say the throw distance is roughly 40% less. The clutch is also a lot stiffer.
I love it though! I havent been able to stop driving it!

I went and got the windows tinted yesterday. Black tint on a Silver car really make it shine!

I broke my camera, but I should have a new one by Thursday, and hopefully I will be able to get some pictures up!
