Hey guys, havent been on here in FOREVER! But i have a bit of a situation that maybe you guys can help answer.
Long story short, i have 2 ecotecs - an 05 2.2 cobalt and an 07 G5.
The g5 is the nicer and newer of the two, and the cobalt has problems. (i think it has something to do with the ICM and that cable. but anyways
i got the oil changed on the G5 at jiffy lube and now they are getting me a new engine.

so heres the question.
can i take the engine out of the cobalt and put it into the G5? if i keep the G5 head and get the rest of the cobalt's engine, i would completely do away with the ICM, correct? idk if they bolt right on or what.

just say no.

 

even thou they pay for a new engine, you still own the old one. you just have to bring it home. its not a warranty thing so the dealer doesnt need to send it back to be looked over

i took my lsj too walmart because i sprained a ankle and in ky we get random weather no joke so it was prob 100* and humid as hell so walmart left my windows down when they were down which is a def no no lol, and it rained 3 inches in like 1 mins lol on my floor board and my recaro seats were bye bye so walmart ended up giving me 1700$ to fix everythoing which gm wanted 6000$ for new upolstry and some electronics. but hey i know how to clean and rewire so i did that kept the money and put it into my ss lol

 

I don't understand how a jiffylube can screw up an engine. Did they put in cheap non synthetic oil?

Either way, they both use EXACTLY the same engine. You should be able to swap them.

 

They didnt put the oil filter cap back on and they fucked up the engine, whats not to understand? Do i really need to go into detail?
And the engines are not the same, thats why im asking

you didnt say before that jiffy lube fucked it up.... this makes much more sense now. but honestly i couldnt tell you if you could directly swap those engines so im no help there.

 

The top of this engine has individual coil packs. which is what the engine of the 07 has.

Sorry man but it was the perfect....... Situation (for lack of a better word) to make this thread a joke. Thats how everyone here is. I would have answered the question if i knew the answer but i just bumped the thread for you.
