Went to the track again today...

R/T .439
60 2.371
330 6.282
1/8 9.424
mph 78.31
1000 12.104
1/4 14.339
mph 100.73

R/T .406
60 2.352
330 6.277
1/8 9.419
MPH 77.96
1000 12.108
1/4 14.350
mph 100.18

My last run was a 14.6 but I messed up....

Ill post pictures when my brother gets back with the camera

My brother with his Saturn redline brought his time down to 14.6xx

My friend went up there with his G6 GTP and busted a 15.001

Another cobalt a member here ran a 14.45, IM sure he will hop on here and post his times.

A black 05 SS blew an axle on the track, and another one ran an 18.xx and completely smoked his clutch.

Pretty fun night, cept for the hour and a half of clean up :'(

No homo

Yea I always ease into first. I have never hard launched it. I think 14.3 is as best as I am going to get without doing a hard launch. When I hard launch on the street though I usually get wheel hop and wheel spin :'( When I ease into it its as smooth as a babies bottom.

they were just people who wernt experienced enough... manual cars are a learning experience trust me i know (i blew my axles with 3000 miles on car)

wheel hop is a cause of breaking axles. light hop isnt that bad but you dont want any at all! if you feel an aggresive hop just pushin in the clutch and stop! or you may blow something. I used to hop so bad my windsheild wipers would come on and my cd player would error and eject cd lol

he was dropping the clutch all his fault! i tried to give him some pointers i said, "we dont have a turbo car or a tq'less car so when you touch the gas your gonna go no lag, so dropping the clutch is just hurting ya".

automatics unless your pushing 500+ whp i doubt you wheel hop just spin tires

Yea...My clutch isn't as bad as I thought, it still engages well....Yea, the clutch is pretty weak so I don't spin that much...In 2nd close to the redline the wheels break loose it's pretty cool...

im not a expert but i thought is was alot of factors.
ill list the one im sure of though:

1) automatics have a tq converter instead of clutch and driver

An automatic transmission has a fluid coupler, it allows up to around 500rpm of slippage. This is what makes autos so smooth compared to a stick. Even if your in first gear on an automatic you won't feel the jerkiness that a stick does. I'm guessing that this slippage absorbs the energy that causes wheel hop.
