The hatred against Hondas isn't really against Hondas...it's against Honda owners...or I should say ignorant Honda owners. Took me a bit myself to figure that out.

And also you should THANK Honda and the popularity of Hondas in the states because if it wasn't for them, you would have no aftermarket or "tuner" scene.

By the way, rappers are talking about OLD SCHOOL chevys, not a new school Cobalt or Cavalier, so don't even pull that card out...
I wouldnt use the car and driver card either when they say our car runs low 15's and we are last in every comparison just because are interior is well not up to par. I have lost respect for most magazines its old men used to test driving bmw's mercedes bentley and exoctis etc... that when they look at a 20000 car they are like wtf. The si's are ok i personally would never own one but there owners usually are ******** i respect all cars if we all liked the same car what would be the point?

I love the way Hondas are styled. I almost got one before the Cobalt. i just don't like the name alot of ppl would automatically give me if I owned one. Plus I like Cobalts better.

For one don't just single it out to rappers cause thats not what I said...I gave examples not pointing just to rap and I didn't say Cobalt. I was pretaining to Chevy as a whole company just like I was pretaing to Honda as a whole company. So, don't twist my words around!

Car and Driver is just an example...never said they were accurate or perfect or non biased but they aren't the only magazine. Their motives are another topic.

But even go by their sales...if they were terrible cars like people act like they are, people wouldn't buy them and they'd be depleted like Daewoos. Fact of the matter is that they are very innovative and have improved technology that other companies haven't and theya re just well designed and engineered vehicles.

Ok, lets go down the list of music then:

Hip Hop: Old School Chevys
Country: Chevy Pick up Trucks
Rock: Old School Chevys

eh, i can't do a whole list but the fact of a matter is that people pertain Chevy in many different manners rather than just EVERY chevy vehicle. That's the point I was trying to make. Saying that all Hondas suck is pertaining to EVERY Honda vehicle ever created...do you think the NSX sucks? Thats a Honda.

You can feel how you want about a car maker, I was just trying to make a point of that when you label something, you're labeling everything within it. If you don't like old 93 hatchback civics, then say that. I don't like them either but I'm not going to say "all hondas suck".

Wasn't trying to twist you words, just stating a point.

Hondas are well manufactured cars with great gas milage (usually). But, I've always been a Chevy girl, and no turning back.

Thumbsdown huh? atleast im not the one who wasted all that money on a shitbox. I feel stupid for even getting all worked up over a civic. maybe he gave me a thimbs down cause i wouldnt race him...sorry but i dont waste my time racing shitbox hondas when i already know the outcome....

You are 100% right..don't waste your gas on that garbadge. I've raced about 6 civics and maybe 2 accords. The out come is the same all the time, just a waste of gas for me. I've only had 2 cars that I raced smoke me bad one was another cobalt with a ZZP stage 5 on it and the other was a EVO VIII. Hondas don't even compare!

Right now i'm forced to drive my bro's 04 civic ex sedan because my dad needed my car to drive to florida cuz mines more reliable CRAP! And let me say that i have sat in a 06 civic ex coupe and they look pretty sweet, but then again the i always knew that. The 06 (and 07 as well) models were done well, the only thing i didn't like was the analog speedometer which im not a fan of at all i'm all about gauges. But as for the experience of driving a civic i must say it blows the mighty big one. Doesn't even compare to the cobalt ss s/c. Needless to say i get my car back next week but it feels like next year.

Actually I used to have a 91 CRX with a B16A swap, w/ IHE and a short throw shifter and dyno'd 196hp/134 ft. lb. One time a couple of months ago, a victory red cobalt SS/SC pulled up next to me and asked me to go, and my response was pretty cocky, and went along the lines of I'd burn him and he told me that his car had more power than I thought, which I knew how much his had, (205hp/200 ft. lb. 3000+lb. vs 196 hp/134 ft. lb. 1900 lb) so the light turned green and we both went at it...in the end I shut down at about 105 mph and he was about 3 cars back...since then my tranny went out, and didn't feel like putting any more money into that car, which is how I have my Cobalt LT now, and someday hope to supercharge in the near future.

Civic's have done alot for the sport. There are a very many terrible examples out there,
but it is really only because they were cheap, reliable, and sold a ton of them.
When I was growing up, I had many Chevy's. My first car was a 1979 camaro z28.
It was great,t-tops,350,black. Ran 13's at sea-level. Bought it for 1500, fixed it up for another 2-3000.
Owned a 1972 chevelle after,a 1970 1/2 split bumper z28, 1977 454 1/2 ton camper special.
Chevy has a terrrible history when it comes to sport compacts. The cavalier in any form
was forgettable at best. They lost value so fast, it was scary.
The new Cobalt is a great new car. It's about time. If it was out when I was looking to replace my 02 civic si, I would have looked very hard.
I wanted something quick, reliable, and 2-door. My rsx fit the bill nicely. I wasn't at all fond of the srt-4, and the wrx get's the same mileage as my cousin's 1/2 ton.
I just pray that Chevy doesn't think we need a supercharged suv to replace the cobalt
like one of the other guys did...
I hope they stay s/c too, turbo would be crappy. The motor in the cobalt has alot of potential, and very soon better parts will be available to come closer to realizing it on the street. I look forward to some whipple swaps. Those cars will surprise alot of people, and the whipples sound even better than the Eaton's when pushed.

i don't care for the element that the Civic attracts, but one of the worst beatings I have ever taken at the dragstrip came at the hands of a stealthy shitbox mid 80's Civic...

the car was turd beige, a four door, was sitting on 13" steelies with ******* snowtires on it. Hanging out the back was just the normal exhaust pipe that has about as much diameter as a slurpee straw and the guy behind the wheel is grinning at me. At first, as I rolled to the line, I thought, "this guy is either nuts or stupid. i'll beat his ass easy."
Just as we staged, his exhaust changed, it got deeper, meaner... WTF?
The lights go green and that car is off like it swallowed a rocket engine, just pulling away from 2.2L like i had been chained to a tree. He was just GONE!!!
My jaw was on the floorpan. His 1/4 mile was in the mid 12's, whereas mine was low 16's !
So as I come back up the service road, i see him get out of the car and it was just like Dirty Harry, "I gots to know."
It was a H22 (something like that) out of a Prelude, turbo-ed, on the bottle, Prelude 5gear with an LSD... the exhaust had a cut out to suck the posers in. (So if you in the Montreal area of Quebec, i've got the tag number... this car is all business). The guy built the car for the purpose of just beating the **** out of people... Now THAT is a Civic that i can respect. It's guys like that you want building Civics, the real people that are all business and no bling, no rice, no huge wings...

Instead, I get revved on by some kid with moms' hand-me-down Accord telling me I should take my Crapalier back to the dealer... are kids illiterate today? It says COBALT on the decklid for ***** sake?

Eh... not worth getting fired up over.

Scott

i own a civic, and i agree w/ you guys for the most part....i hate riced out cars, of any brand...especially all of the older civics that i automatically get stuck with their stigma of being a cocky ricer...i think that i have modded my car tastefully...(pics are on post 41 of this tread also in the pics area on the site). the only balt i have raced has gm stg 2, injen CAI, 2.8" pulley, ingalls TD, and some other crap, and he beats me every time(hes my bro) if i ever get the chance to run w/ a stock ss/sc im takin it...i think it would be a very good race. but ya, i hate ricers just as much as the next guy, as do MOST 8th gen civic owners...although, just like w/ the cobalts, and any other car for that matter, there is always those select few w/ the sweet wings and the neon underbodies ruining it for the rest of the tuning crowd.
