What do I do?
Hey guys!
I'm asking your opinion on what to do with my vehicle situation! I 'm 16 years old (turning 17 in 2 months) and my parents bought me a used 2001 oldmobile alero 2.4 twin cam automatic. It was granny driven (literally) and has only 35,000kms (~20,000miles) on it. The car is in great shape and best of all i only have to pay half of insurance and all the gas i use. Its a damn sweet deal! However, I do have alot of money put away (worked at my parents dealership for 4 years) and i was going to put it towards a new cobalt ls 2.2 or a base colorado 2.8 5spd, Both brand new.
Here is my dilemna, now that i have this car basically being given to me, do i keep this car and leave it stock and save up more money for a car in a few years? Or do i keep it and mod it (GMPP supercharger) and make it my kinda car? OOOOR do i keep it for a year then trade it in for a vehicle?
If i end up trading it in down the road It will likely be a colorado or a cobalt ss/sc.
Just need some advice guys, thanks alot!

if your parents bought the car for you, it would be ignorant to turn around and sell it... but i dont think that was one of your options; so if i were you i would keep the car stock for a year and then trade it in for a new one. if its your first car then definitly keep it for a year, it will teach you the basics of car machinery!

yeah i know, thats another thing i'm considering, they would take it as a slap in the face.
SO i am leaning towards keeping this car and moddin it, its already quick enough for a 4 cyl sedan, what do you guys think?

^ Haha cool, Does anyone else know of any performance mods for the 2.4? Not the ecotec one. I know of a GM supercharger and maybe a CAI, that should bring me close to 170-180whp?
Any other suggestions for modding?
Its a 2001 Goldish Alero Sedan....lets hear some ideas!

Yeah, so far the best idea is to keep it, but since when you trade in vehicles, the dealers wont usually give you more $$ for performance mods, I might keep it stock other than a CAI and maybe a header. Thanks to all who posted

keep it, mod it lightly if youd like, but save money for a nice car in the future, like a cobalt sc, or turbo if that happens, or even the new camaro. i'm your age and in the same rut. I got a 93 Z24 for free, not a fast or new car at all, but ill keep it and save up for a car i really like, but can afford rather then getting rid of it right away to just get a new car for the hell of it cus it's new.
