What to get

Im running in to a dilemma. Im deciding on what car I want to buy and im not sure what I should get. I really love the cobalt SS as you see I am on this site always researching them and stuff. Im also looolking at the srt-4 or a 04 mustang GT. Now I know for the most part you guys are cobalt owners but I just wanna know what you guys think on these choices.

Well srt4 is mainly built for speed. It's not very luxurious inside and it's 4 door. (i dont mind fast 4 doors though) I wouldn't get the gt unless you supercharge that thing or put heads/cams/and gears in it then that would be sick. The ss is sporty not really luxury but better quality in the interior department. It's up to you though.

Its simple, are you a Chevy, Ford, or Dodge fan? Do you not have a preference? That is a wide range in choices there.

Speed wise i'd say go with the SRT4 even though you can make the gt fast too it will most likely cost you more money to make the gt as fast as the srt4 would. If you want all around car in good handling, decent speed, and good gas mileage, get the SS. Stay away from mustangs unless it's an 03/04 cobra Those things a purtty and FAST and easy to mod.

Why are you telling him to go with the SRT-4 for speed. Ive raced a stock SRT-4 when i was stock, and we where dead even the whole race.

ford, chevy, dodge
N/A, Supercharged, Turbo
coupe, coupe, sedan
midsize, compact, compact
v6, straight 4, straight 4
RWD, FWD, FWD
shall I go on?
As you can see the mustang is the one that doesnt belong. There is a wide variety of differences here.
I'd say SS/sc...

Because as of now, you can't make the SS/SC an 11 second car now can you?

YES YOU CAN! I have the GM build book. It tells you how to build the ecotec engine up to 1000hp! Just buy that book and it tells you everything.

I have the book. You practically have to rebuild the whole engine for that crap. You'd be better off with a 2.2 if you wanted that power. But the srt4 would be the cheapest to modify.

Don't buy a Cobalt SS.... The less purchased means the rarer they will be... Let us have the glory of being unique!

The only thing stopping you from an 11 seconds cobalt is your skill or your wallet.

The people with 11 second SRT-4's have lots of money and effort into their cars.

get the cobalt, the more there are on the streets, the more likely we will have an aftermarket. those aftermarket guys care about sales, and if there is a limited market, they aren't going to invest the dollars in R&D for our cars.

Well... it's kinda a game of "which one of these is not like the others" if you want a tuner car... or if you want American Muscle... but here's a quick synopsis... what I have learned from several articles that I've read.

SRT-4: Noisy, vibrating, rough riding, 4 door, speed demon. Also going out of production.

Mustang GT: Big, bad gas mileage, expensive, old school V-8 Muscle.

Cobalt SS/SC: Close with the SRT-4 speed wise, better ride, more creature comforts, overall a more refined daily driver.

Cobalt SS 2.4: While slower than the others, still a quick car in it's own right, with lots of potential... an available automatic, and plenty of comfort, if that's what you are after.

this all depends on what you are looking for/what the car will be used for. if its going to be your daily driver and it snows in your area, the GT would be BAD choice. RWD sux horribly in the snow...even the rain sometimes, depending on how you drive.

now for the SRT-4 vs. SS S/C. i personally think this is raw power vs. refined power. i belive that the SRT-4 is easier to tune and i think turbo's are just easier to work with. the SS S/C has a more comfortable ride/cockpit area and looks nicer IMO. with a little more effort, you can match or exceed the power of an SRT-4. so again, its all up to what you want to get out of the car.
