What Muffler????

I'm trying to figure out which muffler I need to get the deepest tone possible from my LSJ with the factory resonator. If anyone could upload sounds, link me to them or send 'em to me via e-mail with a description of the muffler, it'd be highly appreciated. Like I said, I want as deep of a sound as possible while being noticeably loud. Gonna be running duals through the dual opening rear lip I got. Something close to the sound of a factory SRT-4 is what I'm looking for as far as tone.

Chalk board squeak sure as hell ain't what I want. Don't like the sound of most straight through mufflers either. Rather go baffle style.

This is the rear lip I've got and the exhaust setup I'm going for.

for the muffler, i would ask your "muffler" guy what their suggestions would be. they deal with this all the time. mine is really good, been in the business for a while, and although he costs a little more, the quality is definitely there. He suggested to me custom race mufflers from a buddy of his. sounds bitchin and works great. decent in low R's, loud/deep when you get on it. here are pics of mine...

i would suggest doing one tip on both sides...something subtle, but its there. don't want it to be too outrageous

it flows that much better, anyone will tell you that right over the rear axel is when the exhaust goes from 2.5 to 2.25" pipe. it gets restrictive, especially using the stock water heater (muffler).

Plus looks good when its subtle like mine

anyways, to each his own

i love the look of your dual exhaust. It's very subtle, and classy looking.

That is the look anyone who is doing duals should go for...It looks like it was put there from the factory, and definately doesn't look ricey!!!!

If you don't want to go dual, what's the best muffler for a stock 2.4 catback?

Ummmm...... Why the hell not??? I happen to like dual exhaust. Plus, ya don't see it on Cobalts every day. Especially with that rear lip. I like to have my ride a little different from every other Tom, Dick and Harry's. Is there some sort of problem with that??

I was thinking about taking the 40 series flow off my truck and putting it on it. Gonna straight pipe the ole Dakota anyway.

He is probably asking you why because there is no performance gains and possibly even a loss in power from going dual on your car

I'd be worried about lack of backpressure with duals. Don't wanna fry the valves or cut down your torque...I've seen this happen to a couple friends with bad exhaust setups. Four cylinders are very dependent on backpressure.

Oh, I'm well aware of the extreme need of backpressure the LSJ has. If need be, you can restrict the pipe. It's just gonna take a little playin'.
