In an SS S/C, 3k all the way.

I'm not so sure the 3k rule applies for an LS though. I think 2k--2.5k would be fine.

for the LS, anything below 1.5k is bogging engine besides 1st and 2on. so to save gas you want to shift to 1.5k. id shift 2-2.5k in 1st, 2k in 2on, a little less than 2k for 4th and 2k in fourth. 5th should be able to go less than 40 mph, i have xfe type and any lower than 40 mph (1.5k rpm) it starts to bog. i have it going through a 35 looking around for cops doing 40 to save a little mpg or sometimes just so i dont have to downshift lol =/ i see 40+mpg holding 1.5rpm and 30 mpg holding 2K rpm. people may be pissed at you for driving that slow though lol first to second waiting for revs to drop people behind me have to brake...

btw this info is all based on when i heard the bogging noise and based on mpg on dashboard.

Generally around 3,000 if I'm just cruising around. A redline a day keeps the mechanic away.

3000ish first to second
3500-4000 ish second to fourth

yes, I am lazy. Generally the roads I am on have me at the speed I need to be at coming out of second so I go straight to 4th to cruise (to low of rpm for 5th)

You shift early as you can without bogging your engine. Generally I revto about 2500 in first and nearly that in second, then maybe only to 2000 in 3rd and 4th.

Anything below 1500 bogs my engine and shifting at 2k puts me right around 1500 in each gear. I normally start revving up in first though and then decide I want to just step on it and ruin the entire good MPG plan...

Shifting at 3k+ almost seems like you're gunning it, but I guess that's just a loud exhaust.
