Question What would you guys do?

Ok, heres my problem. I'm 17 and 3/4 years old, my parents were really nice and FINANCED my car car for me. As a birthday, christmas, new years, easter, 4th of july (for the next 5 years ) present they said they will pay my payments until I turn 18. I have a small list of things I want on my car: Ingalls ETD, B&M shift kit, GM stage 2, and some NKG spark plugs. I have enough money to get the torque dampner, and the shift kit right this second. However, if I get those, I may not have enough time to save up the 700 somethin bucks it takes for stage 2. So my question is, should I get the torque dampner and shifter now and worry about stage 2 later, or keep saving for stage 2 and get the other stuff later on?

personally, sometimes spending money when you have it isnt always the best, but, on the other hand it really depends on how bad you want stage 2 if not the get small things and build up

Cameron, think about it dude. Stage 2 all the way, thats a no brainer.. your shift kit and ETD are not gonna give you 30-40 hp

thats my suggestion bro.

STAGE 2

the stage 2 will be the best bang for the buck, but i dunno how your parents would take to that... but then again, mine never would have bought me a supercharged sports model when i was 17.

wow man.. i wish i had your problems!! haha... but anyways, i would look into both, and see which one you decide... you will hear all sorts of different answers here... do you have a job? what are your payments? because i don't know all that many 17 year olds that can pay for a new ss/sc and insurance by themselves... so maybe depending on the situation you should save for those payments? i know i'm 24 with a clean record, and i pay about 700/month for my 2.2 and insurance... so you'rs has to be more than that... just a suggestion

My payment is $418 for the car and $225 for insurance. Yes I have a job, most people roll there eyes when I say this, but I work for my parents. They own 2 businesses and I am an accual employee, they take taxes and what not out of my pay, and if I do something stupid I'll get fired, just like any other employee would. I've done the math and it won't be that difficult to make $650 a month. Now making the payment AND saving for other parts and stuff will be a different matter. Thats why I want to get as many upgrades as I can now so I can start saving for the payments.

I'm in a similar boat. Actually almost the EXACT same thing lol. I'm also 17 and have will have 500 bucks at the end of the month. (Maybe more) I wanna save for a twincharged kit but I don't wanna drop 5 grand on everything for the car... Only 3 .. But yeah I voted for stage 2.

Thanks for all your input! Insanly enough I came across a deal of $120 for an ingalls etd SHIPPED! I was planning on selling some stuff that I could easily get 150-170 bucks for. So the torque dampner I couldn't pass up, the shifter can wait. Stage 2 here I come!!!

LOL at least you get paid!!!!! I worked in my mom's accounting business for years with NO pay. So when I turned 16 she bought me a brand new Cavalier in lieu of 2 years back wages....grrrrrrrr. And I never got paid after I got the car either.

As for me, I'd save for payments and do small mods now.

$650 a month.. now have you taken into account gas?
if your independent and not always around with your parents.. will you still have the cash flow to go out and enjoy yourself with buds (spending money)... you need to look at everything.. not just the car cost.

as far as mods.. get the Dampner first.. no point in having more power if you can not some what put it to the ground.. the Short shifter is a joke dont worry with it.. i shift just as fast with my stock shifter as people do with "smaller" ones.. which isnt really that much smaller. as far as the gm stage 2 kit is concerned.. personally i was goin the same rought but i would go intense since you will have a Tuned pcm instead of a rich as hell pcm.. tune>**** tuned to get by

bastard! jk.
Let me tell you, don't get stage 2 for your car until you get intake and exhaust. The car becomes 10 times more fun when the exhaust is loud and the blower screams. You also get some extra ponies out of it, but the fun factor just sky rockets. You won't regret getting intake and exhaust, TRUST ME

Dude ,theres no sence in making more power if you cant get it to the ground. Get the ingalls, exhaust and an intake. Than get stageII they will make stageII all that better. Thats just my 2cents!!!
