Question What would you like to see?

Well some of you may know me and some may not. Currently I have the fastest street legal Cavalier in North America according to the JBO lists. Running 12.80s on the stock internals, stock clutch, stock axles, stock CVs, stock everything basically with a turbo thrown onto the motor.

But that is all besides the point.

The dealership where I bought my car is considering giving me a SC/SS to play with and use as an advertising tool for them because they were so impressed with what I did with the cavy. Im just curious what the members of this site would like to see, performance wise, out of a street legal, DAILY DRIVABLE Cobalt SC/SS.

Post up your thoughts and we'll take them into consideration if/when the dealership hands over the keys to me.

i have the 2.2L ecotec. my signature should link right to my website actually.

i dont know what kind of budget we would be looking at honestly. the owner of the dealership owns like 6 dealerships so you know he has the bucks for just about anything.

we probably WONT be using a different supercharger. the point of the build is to see what a SS off the floor could do and then use that to get more younger buyers interested into the car. That needs to be kept in mind when making suggestions. some interesting custom stuff is already being tossed around (helps that my boss and fellow co-worker are both master fabricators) and some may even be sold later.

I'll tell you right now that one of the things we're thinking about would be a Twin-Charging Setup. Turbo/Supercharged Cobalt anyone? We also want to find some SLIGHTLY smaller front brakes so we could run a 15in racing rim and slick or drag radial. As far as I've been told 16in is the smallest you can use on the factory (is this right?)

I'll keep you updated but keep the ideas flowing....12s and 13s are definately reasonable goals from the times ive seen posted on here.

I read the post, I just think that you would see more power gains from a supercharger swap. If you're hoping to hit 12's with the M62 you'd have better luck flying a 747 over the white house. With as much money as it would take to get your M62 into the 12's you could easily do a supercharger swap.

smaller pulley, header, full 3" exhaust, larger injectors, torque brace, ported head, 3" diameter CAI, upgrades clutch, lighter wheels, better tires.

I think that will do for low 13's, high 12's.

well working with Hahn is probably the most likely situation considering im working with them on my cavy.

guys im not looking for parts lists...i wanna know what would make the SS community happy. If it requires tearing apart every last motor nut and bolt we might just do that.

wasn't gravana already going to make a twin charged setup for the SS/SC??? anyway I would like to see how well a twin setup would do in terms of a long term investment. Also get as far as possible before breaking warrenty so us here that have to worry about that in the real world can make real world decisions on future upgrades. To start how about get those stage 1/2 kits installed and get us some numbers. Also there is a gm site that states that there is a custom intake box and cat back exhaust being released so to start how about installing all those parts (intake, catback, stage 1/2 upgrade) then putting up some charts so we can look over them then figure out a way to safely install that turbo. If even remotely possible see if you can keep the turbo from breaking warrenty

full of BS eh? look at my car. everyone said i was full of **** when i said i could run a stock motor eco into the 12s. now who are the fools?

taking me seriously or not is your choice. i dont want a parts list because i know how to do the stuff...just want to know what you guys want to see. if all you want are more parts available then dont expect me to get them for you. sorry.

you have a link to these "stages"? im new to this site and havent spent much time researching the SS yet outside of helping a local guy run his a little better. so far hes at 15.0-15.1 but we think the wheels are the limiting factor since you cant put a good tire on it. well one of the limiting factors.

There is no official GM web publications on the Stage upgrades, just an article in autoweek about it.

Glad to see your interested in working on the cobalts. I will have to come see you at the next bash.

I would say work on an engine management system for you cobalt first and foremost.
