Who else thought this...
Who else thought this...
I originally bought my car because it had 18" rims, recaros, a sub, good suspension, factory lip kit, and was pretty quick. I sold my civic (which was modded in all aspects) and vouched that I wouldn't touch the balt since it's already good for me. Well, thanks to you guys and the fact that there are now THREE other black cobalt ss/sc'd cars in my city I've been getting the mod bug. I bought stage 2 a few days ago from CED and now I'm saving for other performance mods and rims. My friends and family all say the same thing... "I thought you bought this car so you wouldn't have to do anything to it!"
Who else thought they wouldn't mess with their balt but ended up doing so?

I thought so too.
But, ask them why improving on a good thing is so bad? What - upgrading can only be done to something that sucks?
I feel that Stage 2 and minor mods like CAI are really just letting the car do what it was designed to do - freeing it up.

Nah, I knew I couldn't keep it stock. Its my first car that I really did performance work on. My tercel just was not practical to make power. Now, I don't know when I'll stop. I'm also young, I guess for many people, age has a lot to do with this decision.
or... I can just have fun til GM finds out, hahaha
Nah, didn't really think that way. Bought mine as a purpose car. It's an auto-x and track car, so I knew the engine would pretty much stay stock and I'd go all-out on the suspension, which is pretty much the direction I'm going. Intake/exhaust and the motor's done for now. Almost done with the suspension, just need the coilovers and subframe and that's done for the most part.
You sound like my husband. He bought his WRX saying that he only wanted to do 2 things to it, and now he keeps asking me about different things and I'm like "No, you said you weren't going to do that." I never said I wasn't going to do anything, but it was kind of understood I didn't want to do much. I wanted the windows tinted and that was about it....the rest of the stuff was just cheap stuff, plus I love my headlights now.
YUP! I said the same damn thing. Then I found out I can get to above 200 hp with a hand full of bolt ons and a tune for 2.4. Then I found out I needed to drop it, then it needs tint, the RK Sport hood the list goes on.
I'm in the same boat you are.

Exact same thing happened to me. I think it's happened to a lot of us.
I told myself, and my family that this car was going to remain stock. I told them I opted for the SS/SC so that I wouldn't have to mod it to enjoy driving it..
Now that I've had it for almost a year... Eibachs, exhaust coming soon... Possible GMSII in the summer... LOL!

Yep, I said the same damn thing. One week later I ordered an intake and 2 months after that CED had a sale on stage 2....oh well. I'm now fighting with myself to not throw some coilovers on it. I keep going back to the fact that my last car was too stiff for every day driving, and then I see the rims I want for sale and say "well I can't buy those if I don't lower the car...which i can affrod right now... DAMN IT"
So yea, I'm in the same boat, hopefully mine won't sink though.

When I purchased my Cobalt I told my wife, "Look, I don't have to do anything to it!", that's when I found CobaltSS.net, and read about the Stage II, and the Injen, and the.... well you get the picture.
Though, I did say I was only going to get the Stage II and then the Injen, but I ended up getting the GMPP Performance Exhaust, the Ingalls TD, now I want a Header, and Downpipe, some 60lbs injectors, then I can put my 2.8 Pulley on, oh and get a Tune... damn.... here I go again....

yeah I thought I would keep mine all stock. but I came here just "in case" something happens and I got the bug from day one. I already have K&N CAI comming this week.
ALso going for GMPP sports exhaust and a stage 2 when I get some more money, but Deff by the end of the summer if not sooner.

That's not what I thought. I installed my aftermarket sub and amp 4 days after I got my car (i've taken that out htough). The 2nd week of owning the car, I installed my magnaflow catback exhaust. I want to go all out on this car engine wise. The only thing that's holding me back is money lol
lol I had my Stage 2 and my GMPP catback before my car even came in
. It was installed before the paperwork was even done on it. Hadn't done much after that though other than the GM accessory red interior kit.
That's what I done to my yellow balt. 2 or 3 days after I bought er, I installed my fosgate stuff in it.
