WTF?? 12 Sec. SS? Is this possible?

Ok, so heres the thing... I am on STLSR.com (St. Louis Street Racing), and this guy has an 06 Cobalt SS/SC for sale. Out of curiosity of course, I take a look. This is his EXACT post.

"12 Second SS/SC

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm selling my DD to help pay for a new truck , I hate to do this because it's a fun lil car but I have a son and theres just not enough room for him , my pups , and momma . It is extremely clean and only has 14000 miles on it since last December (drove to Arizona). The car is black exterior and black and red inlayed leather interior . it has went a best of 12.06 at 108 down the track in 105 degree weather . Mods are as follows
Exterior: 5% tint on all windows but the windsheild
Projector headligts with silverstar bulbs
Interior: All Stock except an Autometer Shift ligth mounted on the top of the sterering column
Motor : GMPP ported header
Custom 3' CAI
GMPP Stg 2 Computer
Lucas 60lb injectors
Lucas injector harness
Ported Eaton
Ported TB
BilletFlow 2.8 pulley(18lbs of boost)
Mad Hatter *Custom* 3' side exit exhaust with a magnaflow highflow cat (good deep tone)
Trans : Spec Stg 2 Clutch
B&M Sport shifter
Ingalls torgue dampener (no wheel hop but still has hook up issues )

Car is sold as it sits, parts could be removed but I would rather sell it the way it sits .

Price: $19000.00 I owe a lil less than that and I realize it might seem a bit steep but with mods and all that it's well worth it , this car will make an awesome DD for someone or a fun lil projet .... to each his own !
Thanks for looking

I replaced the persons name with xxx.

Is that even possible? They dont mention any tune except the stage 2 ecu, and I didnt think you could even run the 60 lb. injectors without a new tune? I also noticed that they have "black and red inlayed leather interior," which would mean no G85, nor the LSD. I dont want to call this person a lier, but he didnt post a time slip, or anything. I was just wondering what you all thought.

In 105 degree weather and he also mentioned still having traction issues...Hmmm...I believe I have only seen 1 other SS/SC run in the 12's and it was still like a high 12, and that was from this site. With his mods I thought ya'll were runnin like mid 13's.

Not happening with that 2.8" pulley he has. Stage 2 tune and 2.8 does not equal a 12.06 at 108. Something fishy there.

i would ask him for a timeslip. i dont think that is possible, but you never know, he must be a really good driver if thats true. but he would need a proper tune and slicks to even get close to that # IMO. yeah ask him for proof or a timeslip and let us know.

That car sounds like it's all a little screwed up. I mean 60 lb injectors with a 2.8 on a gm stage 2 computer? No way.

I could see him running a mid 13, but no way he is hitting a 12.06.

I could see like others high 12s... maybe...maybe... he'd have to be friggin' perfect and in these cars getting a good 1-2 starts is hard! Maybe slicks were involved!

This isnt an uncommon thing in the drag racing world. MANY cars are sold as 10sec car, 12sec car, etc... only to never run those times after they are purchased. When buying something like this, its always good to see timeslips and video. If you buy a car that supposedly runs xxsec without any proof, then its the buyers fault. "CAVEAT EMPTOR"

I have similar mods, minus the overkill 60 lb injectors and exhaust I have run lots of mid to low 13 second runs, I had one 13.04 but it was 80 degrees here, with my friend drag radials on by the way!

I dont remember going down gateway this year in 105 heat...Hell I dont think it got up to 105 degrees this year.

No need to call him out on it though. Let the preson interesting in buying it do that.

Not just mentioning the 105 degrees, but he also said...
Ingalls torgue dampener (no wheel hop but still has hook up issues )
So...Ya'll know bout the traction problem, I say...BS!!! If he still had hook up issues then he should have been closer to the 14's with those mods, high 13's.

12.07 would be closer to 120 or maybe higher 125 or so. I would say he meant 13.07 but for a 108 in an SS i would guess closer to a 13.7

12.06 at 108 gets a big BS Flag from me

Especially since he lists no traction mods (aside from Ingals)

if he claimed high 12's on a cold day,.,, maybe, even that is a stretch though

That set-up should be good for mid 13's with a decent driver. Just look at the fastest cobalts thread
Only 2 guys on here in the 12's so far. And they are are far more modified, and likely better driven

as it reads,,, no way in hell

There wasn't a mention about LSD to my knowledge.. Black seats with Red inlays = no Recaros. No Recaros = no G85 package, which would mean no LSD as well. Unless he just traded out his seats or something and DOES actually have it... Doubt it.
