Group Buy on SS-TC Intercoolers!

Oh. You say Charge Air Piping Kits are cool...but you want MORE?

Well. we did it before with our much-loved 3" SS Exhausts, and now it's the TC guys' turn:

YOU name the Group Buy terms and conditions for a Group Buy on our new Performance Intercooler!

We're going to run this past Forum members first, then to the general public.

I need your opinions...

How much?

How fast?

How many?

What options?

...let THIS Group Buy begin.

UPDATE: 10-25-08

With your input, which we value greatly, I now propose the following for the largest, best designed IC Upgrade available for Cobalt SS/TC!

MSRP: $799.

Group Buy Terms:

$699 if we get 10 players
$625 if we get 15
$550 if we get 20

The GB would close on Friday, November 28th, allowing ample time to get this under the tree in time for Christmas.

Combine your purchase with our Charge Air Piping Kit and also enjoy Free Shipping!

We didn't have to go much further than our popular Solstice/Sky intercooler to design this exciting new version for Cobalt SS-TC. Using our purpose-built and designed cooling core (a Hahn exclusive!) provided a proven solution, one not limited by choosing some "off-the-shelf" universal core. This core features a whopping 835 cubic inches of volume! We added expertly-crafted sheetmetal end tanks that are carefully designed to augment airflow and avoid turbulence and 'dead spots'. For a well-engineered finishing touch, we retained the OEM mounting brackets and their beneficial rubber isolator mounts.

The largest unit available, with 28% more core volume than the nearest competitor, this unit will provide all the cooling your TC could ever need, no matter what you do in the future to increase its power! It not only increases overall power, it also improves throttle response due to reduced inlet restriction. While its overall core volume is over 150% that of stock, it still nestles cleanly into the space occupied by the stock intercooler. Its bar-and-plate construction considerably improves both heat storage and rejection compared to the stock tube/fin design. Compatible with both stock and Hahn RaceCraft intercooler piping, as well as with Hahn/BSR PPC Tuner.

Add the Hahn RaceCraft logo in red or black for no additional charge!

sheetmetal end tanks on an aluminum intercooler? isnt this going to casue a problem down the road with the 2 metals reacting to one and other? sheetmetal will make the aluminum start to carode(sp) and weaken eill it not?

general question, not bashing

I think what Bill meant by that comment was a sheet of aluminum was used to form the end tank. Not actual sheet metal as in mild steel or stainless steel. You can clearly see in the picutres that its an aluminum end tank which is welded onto the core.

Good looking piece there Bill keep up the good work!

PS: I never heard back from you on the PM I sent you

How would this compare to the $400 upgrade offered by Synapse? Theirs appears larger, but appearances (and performance of the intercooler) can be deceiving.

A larger I/C would produce more lag would it not?

How much would it be?

And whoever said their stock I/C is crap

The highest IAT2 I have seen is like...95*, after back to back 115 mph runs

Best question yet Bill...why would a stock turbo SS need one?

Can you get some real charge piping with it?

And those two together should be less than 1000 bucks.

Yes... it will indeed.
And I don't think anyone said the stocker is crap.... but when you crank up the boost with HPT, the discharge temps go way up, as the turbo is out of the efficiency range, and pushing the limits of it's map. A bigger IC would cure the ill affects of more heat.... the lag is a small price to pay.

Of course... everyone does.
... and guess what... they are exactly the same.
An intercooler is only as good as the system it's put on.

As mentioned above... a bigger IC on a stock motor... probably very little gain. Bigger IC on a motor with more boost... probably a nice gain from more cooling.

Here's a dyno comparison that shows intercooler performance versus stock. It's on a PPC-equipped, but otherwise stock HHR SS-TC using the same intercooler design.

If you'd like to see the entire test, click here:

Sure...here's a look. The super-wide core (almost 27 inches) fills the entire grille opening very nicely!

It is...huge.

It is the largest core we've ever produced for a bolt-in intercooler upgrade:

26.5" long, 8" tall, and 4" deep. The internal core volume is equivalent to 150% that of stock. It will support up to 700 HP without breaking a sweat.

In this pic, you can see the difference vs stock in height...we are 30% taller:

And in this one, the difference in depth...we are 35% thicker:
