How-to: Aftermarket seats and frames.

Installing aftermarket seats can be done by anybody. It is not complecated at all.
Aproximatly 60 minutes

Tools needed:

-Aftermarket seats
-Fabricated seat frame
-socket for the seat frame hardware
-15mm socket and if you lucky a electric impact. Otherwise a ratchet.
-Flat head screw driver
-Some elbow grease
-Felt tape
-Bolt, Tap & Die, and socket for bolt
-Camera so we can all see the outcome.

Step 1
Lean seat forward and find 2 plastic caps. Use flathead to remove caps. Below each cap is 1 15mm bolt. Remove the bolts. Lift the seat up and out.
Picture is of my fabricated seat frame already installed.

Step 2
Now that the seats are out, move on to the fabricated seat frame. The frame is metal and the body is metal. Metal to metal makes bad noises. Use felt tape on the front part of the frame that interlocks to body. To minimize up and down play i drilled, tapped, and installed a screw on one side of each frame where pictured. The screw is to apply a slight upward pressure on the frame. Reinstall the rear 15mm bolts. The seat belt bolted to my fabricated seat frame that i purchased from Procar by Scat. (Hint: Install seat frame seperate from seat. Its just easier)

Step 3
This step depends on how your seat bolts to your seat frame. My frame used 4 13mm bolts where pictured. Install seats. Now that seats are installed check for cleareance between the door panels and center console.

Now enjoy the fruits of your labor.

The factory seat brackets wont work, you have to get new ones.

Well scat gave me those seats. and then i asked them for brackets. it took them 6 weeks to design some and now i think they go for $140. Whatever company you buy seats from should know how to get brackets for it. or bring a picture of my bracket and your car to somebody who can fabricate brackets. the brackets slide-in in the front and bolt in the back.

Yeh i wanted to do that also, but when looking at it, its didnt look possible with the seats i had. So i had to wait another six weeks while they fabed me some brackets. but the seats recline easily and slide front to back.

i believe there is a how to for removing the rear seats on here somewhere. And i never had heated seats. the only electrical connector on my seats was the seat belt buckle. and i live in south florida, heated seats is not necessary

There is an outstanding video linked on the forum somewhere, but I couldn't find it.
There are few things on this car that are easier to do than removing the back seats. The only tool you'll need is a flathead screwdriver.
First slide your front seats all the way forward and get into the back so that you're facing the back of the car.
Put your hands on the front of the bottom section of the seats(the part that your holds your butt) at about 1/3 and 2/3 the distance across.
With a sharp shove, push it towards the rear of the car and up, it should pop out of place.
Then you'll pull the seat release from the trunk to fold down the upper section. There's a leaf clip on either side of the far left and right of the car that hold these sections in.
Once you fold them down you'll see the clips. Use the flathead to push that clip back and that side of the seat should just pull out. You'll be able to slide the section you unclipped off of the inner post once you angle it out.
Once you do it the first time, you'll be like, "That's it!?"
