How To: Cap your Trunk lock for under a 3 bucks

So I've had some questions about how I cap'd my trunk lock after they saw my other How To on the custom tail lights...

Very Simple process & No pain taking the lock out to paint - those with other color balts can use white vinyl and color matched paint to get it.

Need:
1) Circular object the size of a Toonie
2) Black vinyl from revy (10 bucks for a roll of like 10 feet - I had left over from the eyelid mod & tail lights)
3) Exacto / razor blade

Step 1:

With the Toonie trace around it on the vinyl,

Step 2:

Cut it out

Step 3:

Apply - The benefit of making it with a sharpie is it gives a bit larger diameter and will tuck nicely under the rubber seam and look clean.

ENJOY ^_^

good job, but i think shaving it looks way better.

you got any pics of that from a little farther away, so we can see if it is noticeable?

Correct, it's only in black. You would have to paint it. Which I did.

I've seen people use JB Weld to fill and smooth. It works and looks killer!

Especially if all you have is a setup for JBWeld and NO other cash!

hidding the key hole is one thing, but if your not gona weld a piece and smooth it out

whats the point, you'll still see the outline

i opted to install a rear view camera (diesel audio) rear view camera with night vision hooked up to 7inch in dash monitor, then removed (windshiel) rear view mirror, and it gives me way better vision of the rear especially when backing up i can stop withing 1 inch of anything back there

but still a nice how too

For us americans without the crazy cartoon character money () you can use the cap of your contact lens container.

But if you are american and have good eyes... your still out of luck...

LoL Sorry guys I was waiting for the Mod's to auth this How To and never did get back to looking if it ever went through...

A further back pic is as follows:

and no its not very noticeable - As for the comments about the Smooth locks I talked with the vendor and he said that due to the lip on the trunk they were not able to make one that looked as nice so he recommended this approach.

Any other questions please PM me ^_^
