How to: Headliner Cover

Okay so I am slowly trying to do the whole interior and exterior black, red, and I dnno what other. So today I went to Wal-Mart and bought some fabric to cover the headliner. This is a very easy task but I figured I might as well do a how-to while I'm at it. To start off you will need basic hand tools, some fabric adhesive, a razor, and of course the fabric (i bought 1 1/2 YD of it but you should get at least 2). Cost: $3.66/YD-Fabric ; ~$8 for adhesive.

So now you pull your headliner out of your car

and you can see this ugly bare roof.

Then you lay out your headliner and fit your new fabric over top of it (1 1/2YD just barely covered it). It should look like this:

Then you want to take your adhesive and cover the stock headliner and also your new fabric, let it get sticky for a few minutes.

Now carefully lay the new fabric on the old headliner and nicely lay it out smooth and watch for wrinkles. Cut away at any unnecessary fabric and tuck the rest.

Now this is what the finished product should look like.

I didn't put the visors back in and I painted where the dome light is. What do you guys think? It was different to me. Let me know if you have any questions. Sorry tried to make pics smaller wouldn't work.

you should go into more detail on actually removing the headliner, such as removing the visors, dome light etc..

Mainly for this fact. I would think its a little harder to come out than just a screw or something.

no i didnt iron it before hand i just smoothed it out really nicely and used a 2x4 for a flat edge...

if you take out the clear lens there are two snaps you will see then when you drop the headliner the wire is taped there you pull of the tape and thats it...

sorry- you have to take the screws out of all the pillars and just pull them away at the top you dont have to fully remove them...
