Did you bleed the air out using the bleeder on top of the stock HE? Turn on the IC pump and remove and reinstall the plug on the HE. You will have to slowly keep refilling the coolant resevior. It's a real pain in the ass, which is why GM suggests the S3 Surge Tank when doing the dual pass endplate.

Yes, we removed it until alittle fluid started oozing out, then we put it back in and just ran teh pump and filled for a while. And now everytime I stop the fluid level is right at the bottom of the cylinder reservoir. I think the pressure in the system is just pushing out the coolant that's in the reservoir through the overflow. Cause if I check it while running it's fine, but if I kill it the level goes down. Thanks man!

No you are def. going to have to remove the bumper. It makes thing 1000000X easier and you don't have to worry about scratching, cracking, or ******* up your bumper while you are working. It's really not that hard to remove, there's a how to somewhere to look at. It takes all of 5 mins, 10 at the most.

Ok finally attempted mine today, got all the hardware,l brackets,9 foot hose, hose clamps, and instead of zip ties for the brackets we used jb weld, that's right!!! It was my Dads idea for that, also the 3'4inch elbows r too long and they don't clear, they rub the a/c condensor so I'm taking them back and getting the uncoil ones.

Also we r not using self tapping screws to mount for the bumper support,we're using nuts, bolts and washers so its for sure not to fall off. With using the jb weld u won't run into steel-alluminum contact it will melt a hole in the H/E. Using jb weld looks a lot better than the zip tie method.

We're letting it dry till next week and doing the install then so it has time to harden up,plus the time it took us to get the hardware took like 4 hours!! Ouch!!!
I'll post the pics when I'm done with the install.

I don't see the point of taking off the bumper..I've got my bracket made and getting ready to install it here soon....looks to be if you jacked the car up it would not be hard at all.....just got to make sure to get the top L bracket mounted first and then run the lines and once everything is connected then attach the H/E...not bad at all if you ask me.

I didn't take the bumper off. There isn't much room I will tell you that but you don't need to take the bumper off. I just put it on the lift at home and went to town.

I picked up some E-Z coil made by good year it was kinda high price tried to get it at my local NAPA but the guy I talked too wasn't too bright so I just went to advance auto and picked that up...looks like it will work good. I just don't see the point of trying to take the bumper off seems like that may cause more damage....

How much does the Cobra H/E help anyways? pick up any MPH in the 1/4th?

Its not installed yet,I was planning on installing it till my dad showed me a different method, jb weld, so it needs to dry, next tuesday is the install day,I'm going to the track tomorrow and running it at the track, should be good w/out it as much as I wanted to have it on for the quarter,I'll let u know what I run,I should run a high to mid 13,should be fun!!! But the bumper is staying on for the install!! I don't understand why people do that cause it never goes on right when u remove and it sucks!!!

I am just running the cobra, no dual pass. I got 90 degree elbows that go right on the cobra and they barely clear the a/c. Besides that the rest was pretty simple. Just run the lines where they go and hook um up. Bleeding the air was a bit tricky. Just hot wire up the pump and let her run. Sit back and let it do all the work.

Well got the Heat exchanger mounted up w/out zip ties and self tappers, looks really good,I'll post pics once I get the coolant hose connected to the H/E hose, the fitting I have won't slide onto the pump hose,I cut it too short and it needs to be flush so it don't leak out.

Just a little FYI..use J/B weld,not zip ties,works and looks a lot better!!!
Also didn't have to remove the front bumper, just flexed the hood cover and worked just fine.

It helped me too. It was a LOT easier than I thought it would be. The hardest for me was mounting the brackets to the bottom of the bumper. Took about 3 hours from start to finish.

just did mine the other day, took a couple hours in the driveway...but i have to say, those stock clamps are a pain in the ass!!!! i had to bust out the dremel and cut them in half, they just would NOT come off. All in all, good mod...i work in a machine shop, so i fab'd some brackets out of quarter steel plate, its not going anywhere. I also decided to go a different route with the 90 degree bends. I took the stock hose off, and used the pressed in bends and some strait pieces of copper to tie them to the new hose. The IAT2 temps went from ~135 to ~116 (consistantly, hasnt gone over 120)

Yes you keep the stock one on and you run your hoses and fittings and cross them.
