How To: Install dual Interceptors
Well I got my dual Interceptors today from NGA MotorSports (http://ngamotorsports.rpmware.com/) and I wanted to show everyone how I installed them. I tried to take as many pictures as I could along the way but feel free to ask any questions you can think of. Well here goes nothin'...
Here are a few pictures of how it was packaged and what comes in the package...
Ok step 1 (remove the A-Pillar)...
I had the three gauge pod already installed because I had gauges installed but when I ordered these I put them in my other car so as you can see the spots are empty. Taking the stock a-pillar off is basically the same. Just unscrew the screw at the top and give it a tug and it comes off...
Step 2 (remove the jumper)...
Remove the red jumper from the rear of both gauges (Cobalt's only if you have a Redline you don't have to do this because you're gauge is powered from the OBDII data port). Here is a before, after, and a side by side picture so you know what you're looking at...

Step 3 (Hook up power to the gauges)...
I used these connectors instead of cutting wires. I think it's a cleaner install and you don't have to hack up any wires. Make sure you get the proper one for the gauge wire you're working with.
I piggy backed the power wires like this...
Then I tapped into the pink (power) wire on the stock boost gauge like this...
Step 4 (locate the OBDII data port under your drivers side dash and hookup the data wires)
This is the OBDII data port...
Hook the wire up like this...
Step 5 (Hide the wires)...
Run the wires along the door jam and tuck them behind the dash like this...
Step 6 (plug in the gauges)...
Plug in the power and data wires into the gauges like this...
Step 7 (reinstall the A-Pillar and enjoy)
reinstall the A-Pillar and it should look like this...
Day...
Night...
You're now ready to set your parameters and enjoy.

I ran my OBDII cable a little differently then you did. I actually ran it down inside the dash where the stock Boost gauge comes out. It was a bit of a PITA to get the OBDII plug thru there by I managed after about 10 minutes of fiddling around. I wired my external power up exactly like you did.
As for the gauges, I haven't been able to get mine to report properly when they are both set to Data Rate 1.
My setup: Dual Interceptor, Black face, black bezel, blue display
Top - HP / Boost (with 6200RPM shift annunciator)
Bottom - IAT / IAT2 (with Knock 3 annunciator)
Really love these gauges. I strongly recommend them to anyone.

in the manual it says duals cannot both run at data rate 1, they can both run at 2, or you can run one at 1 and the other at no faster than 3. you can overload your obd port by trying to run both on 1 according to aeroforce.

Yes I read that. I'm not saying I recommend it. All I'm saying is that it works perfectly for me to this point. The reason it may work for me is because I only have the top gauge monitoring IAT1, IAT2, and RPM (only showing IAT1 and IAT2) and the bottom gauge scanning boost, knock, and RPM (only showing boost and knock). Maybe since i'm only scanning a few parameters it's not overloading anything...I dunno...

i dunno, you may be able to get away with it like that. i just read from aeroforce they say not to do that. I was directing it towards Maj, not you though. I didn't actually know what your settings were, i guess reading > me. ha ha. He was saying he hadn't been able to get his to report properly with both on 1. Thats good you haven't had any problems with yours, I think your right. It could be cause your not scanning and displaying all the parameters available. Less info probably wouldn't overload the port. IDK just guessing here.
Anyways love how they look, and thanks for great write up and its gonna come in handy this week. I got mine and will be putting them in this week.

NP they take some getting used to when you're setting them up. Honestly it's a bit of a pain in the ass! but once you get them set you're good to go. I really like the shift lights because 1st gear is so short and I'm constantly bouncin it off the rev limiter. If you have any questions when you're installing it send me a PM or post up here and I'll be more than happy to help you out...
BTW I used a straight screw driver to gently push the data wires behind the dash. Make sure you don't push so hard you tear the wires...

Just to clarify things as my electrical wisdom is kind dim. To install only one interceptor I'd follow basically the same thing as written in the write up minus piggy backing the 2 harnesses correct? And, is it safe to tap into the power supply for the boost gauge to power the interceptor like you did? It won't overload anything?

and thats what i was thinking, they must not draw much power i guess...he hasnt said he had a problem with runing all 3 gauges off the same power lead

I've been running it this what since I wrote this up and i haven't had any issues. They work perfectly. No inline fuses or anything. However if it makes you feel more comfortable an inline fuse can never hurt. If you have any other question please lemme know...

probably cobalt addiction. i just ordered the same one in black and in total it comes to $90 shipped. $100 in tan. but $10 less for either if you live in the us

So I just received my interceptor and prosport boost gauge in the mail yesterday! YAY! Now I have another electrical question...
What are the white and green wires for on the interceptors harness? And what do I wire them to?
I'm getting some help installing this tonight but I figure if its easy enough I'll just do it myself.
