How to install the Modern Performance smoked taillights.


Tools Needed

-3/8" Ratchet
-10mm deep socket
- 11mm deep socket
- Extension bar




The Brake Lights


1. Pop your trunk and unscrew the plastic net holders on both sides.



2. Pull the carpet back and remove the nuts from the stock lights using a 10mm deep socket.



3. Remove the stock light and unclip the harness.



4. Remove the bulb from the stock harness.



5. Insert the male harness from the new light into the same spot the stock bulb came out of and press down hard. Reconnect the harness to the car harness.



6. Insert the new light in it's place and tighten the bolts down using that 10mm deep socket. Do the same to the other side.



The Reverse Lights


1. Pull the black plastic cover off the reverse lights.



2. Remove these nuts using an 11mm deep socket.



3. Remove the stock bulb from the case and pull out the stock reverse light.



4. Install the light into the new reverse light case, put the light in it's place and tighten the bolts back down.



You are now done and this is what it looks like.

Very good product.

The only thing I don't like is the turn signals blink very fast now.

 

is the reverse leds or regular bulb?

 

It's your regular stock bulb.

 

I got mine in the mail today & was wondering how the hell I'm supposed to put the reverse lights in when there isnt a thread on them to hold them in place... heres some pics... please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You use the same nuts that came off. They actually cut new grooves in the new post. Just reuse the stock nuts you'll be good to go.

there is a place online that sells the resistors to slow them down. it goes by how many lights your replacing.its supposed to be easy to do. i will see if i can find the place again

Thats cool man let us know. I don't mind them that much because there is no way someone is missing that signal. Helps protect the car. Plus people look thinking wtf is that, a strobe blinker? lol

I would bring it back to normal though if this resistor works for us. Thanks Rally.

 

They look great CT.... im guessing the car is reading the LED light as if it was a burning out blinker huh?

I guess since LED's usually take so much less energy that the two lights appear like 1 to the car

getting ready to put mine in tommorow, anything to watch out for?

 

might have to put those little self-tapping hollow nuts on the ground and beat on them with a hammer to get the diameter of the hole small enough to actually cut into and grab onto the studs coming out of the new tail lights.

if that doesnt make sense, it might tomorrow. thats what i had to do to mine. thats the only problem i ran into.

 

i installed mine today and didn't run into the problem, they only one I did run into was the fact that only one of the nuts went back on when installing the reverse lights, did anyone else have this problem? I figure they are held in with those clips also and should be fine with only one?

 

the clips dont hold them tight enough. and one should be fine, but if theres some way you can put on 2, i would.. especially if you have a system because it might rattle

 

how bright are these during a sunny day? the video i saw doesnt look that bright...
