How To: Remove Fuse Box
8 Attachment(s)
I remember 07metallic making a thread asking if it was easy, and there were a few of us who responded with instructions. i've had mine apart countless times and noticed there wasn't a how-to thread. so now there is....
Tools needed. ratchet, 1/4 or 3/8 depending on what sockets you have 13mm socket 10mm socket. i use a deep just cause i happen to have one. a regular may work though. 7mm socket Beer First unhook the battery terminal in the trunk. Start by simply taking off the top cover to expose the fuses and relays. Attachment 48746 Next take a 10mm and unscrew the positive terminal on the fuse box and remove the wires. Attachment 48747 Using the 7mm socket unscrew the 5 bolts that hold the terminal assemblies underneath. a 1/4 to 1/2 a turn will loosen them enough to where you can finish unscrewing by hand. Attachment 48748 When you feel them get tight again, lift up on these four tabs. there is one next to the coolant reservoir, two on the engine side, and one on the firewall side. this will lift the whole assembly up. Attachment 48749 Once it's up and 'off'. keep loosening the 5 bolts so the terminals come off the bottom and you'll find this. just unhook them and move them out of the way. Attachment 48750 Once you do that there are three bolts holding on the base of the fuse box. one 10mm on the coolant reservoir and two 13mm below the ecu. the 10mm needs to come off all the way obviously, but the two 13mm's only need to be loosened enough to pull the base up off the bottom bolt, and then over to slide the top bolt out through the bigger hole. Attachment 48751 Attachment 48752 Move everything out of the way of whatever you're working on and there you have it. Fuse box removed. Attachment 48753 |

Its all in good fun. I'm afraid if I drank while working on my car I'd get drunk and mad and break some things. Hell I tore into the back brakes over a week ago and its still sitting on stands cause it needs rear calipers I don't have the Money for. Good old gm defective brakes. Oh and that's after buying pads and rotors.
