Um, an SS/SC doesn't have the engine cover to start with.

To answer your question, this tutorial was done on a 2.4L.

So the answer is yes.

I just removed mine today and I was wondering if there is a way to get the risers that hold the plastice cover on off. it looks like the rear one has a nut on it to just screw off but im not sure about the front one. Anyone know?

I assume you are talking about the two metal pins on either end that the cover snaps on to. They just screw off, very easy.

How does the one in the front come off. I was able to remove the rear one with a 10mm end wrench because it actually had a but welded onto it. The front one doesnt seem to have that. It does into steel bracket and it is tapered on both sides and both end are round so i dont know how to get it off. Any info?

The front one deffinately does not come off on the 2.2L by conventional methods. If you want it off you have 2 options. 1 would be to cut it off and 2 would be to remove the bracket that it is attached to. If you remove the bracket, you have remove a tie that is holding a wiring harness on it, figure out how to remove the dipstick from it, and i believe that part of the A/C is ties to it as well. I think i may opt for option 1 because i fubared it pretty good with a pair of vice grips trying to screw it off but its not made to come off.

I was going to trim off the part of the bracket that holds the pin with a Dremel and cut-off wheel.

I just used a cutting wheel to cut the pin off. Worked out great. No more cover for me.

umm.. what cover? THe LSJ does not have a plastic engine cover. it DOES have a fuel rail cover, but it is TINY, I would just leave it, it is just a messof tubes and wiring behind it.

Engine Cover

I just put my engine cover in the trunk. The Engine compt. looks a lot better.I had a little trouble getting the oil cap spacer off, but it was well worth it.

late post but be aware this does also keep engine heat off of the hood..which after a long while(8-10 years) will make the hoods paint look like complete **** lol, even though we do have heat protectors other than the engine cover.

Would taking the plastic cover off be dumb if your living in a relatively cold state with periodical snow blasts and sleet? lol
