I kept it about 6" away from the car and an inch ahead of where I was pushing just to keep it warm but not hot enough to burn me.

I just started loading the vid... missed the link my first pass through the thread. Oops

I'll take a look at it once it finishes loading cuz I'm currently on dial-up [sigh]

I see what you're saying, though. However, I really don't have any place to safely use a heat gun or hair drier because I have to park on the street and it's on a rather steep incline... nowhere I can really go to have access to a power source and run an extension cord. Any chance that the Bug & Tar remover would do the trick by itself? Sorry if that's answered in the video, it's gonna be a little while until I have it loaded

hey no worries, id ask questions if I had to d/l a video for 20 minutes too. the remover loosens it, but the heat does the trick. If you havea friend or a neighbor with a driveway it would prob work out. maybe even some carwashes or gas stations. with the heat it is a piece of cake. im impressd you got this far without heating the trim at all. im sure you can find a way to make it happen. maybe pull your Balt onto the sidewalk for like 10 minutes... that really is all you will need

w00t!

It worked! Not quite as cleanly as they WRX guys did it, but it did come off... A few spots didn't take as well to the B&T Remover as others but for the most part it worked VERY well

I really need to do a major cleaning on this car... wash, claybar, polish, wax, all of it... now if only I could steal time to do it...

Thank you one more time OrngBalt and thanks to the other posters on here. With all of this help I was finally able to get through this lol. I'm learning soooo much from these forums it's unreal

Get some HIGH STRENGTH fishing line...and go to town on it after heating up sections at a time with a hairdryer... I Highly Recommend people staying away from putty knives...much safer with Fishing line.
damn you stole my thoughts. I totally agree with the fishing line. Another thing you may want to consider is a blow dryer. That works wonders with the goo gone. Heats up the sticky and then melts the glue. just be careful.

Nice job

*note: paint thinner does the same thing and costs less. however you are forced to get a lot more!

I dont have pics but i just did it a few weeks ago to my 4dr, trust me, do it!

looks so much better, and dont worry about how long you've had it on. I had mine on for FOUR YEARS and no color difference between the area underneath and whats not.

I debadged and de-trimmed my 2005 4-door over the weekend. I definately love the look! Only problem is there's a color difference on one side of my car...it is lighter where I de-trimmed. Does anyone know how to remedy this?

^^^yeah, I tried applying some wax, but it didn't seem to make a difference on that one side. I'm probably going to try again and put more elbow into it.

how often would you have to wax this after you got the trim off to protect the paint?

the paint is clear coated before the trim is added. I took mine off after a year and a half and there was no difference between the paint covered and paint not covered
