Let's say I pay a local tuner to configure a new tune for my setup. If I get a CEL and need to reset the ECU at any point, does that wipe out the new tune data and revert back to the oem programming? I'm guessing no but I wanted to be sure. I have tuned before, just never with GM or HPTuners so I wasn't sure if new firmware and code are uploaded each time you make a change or what all it effects. It would be stupid to pay someone to tune your car, then you'd lose your tune and have to pay for it again if you reset the ECU.
