I just wondered if there were any other Iowa guys out there. There are two other SS 'balts in my town and haven't seen many others.

 

I was in Des Moines on Mon,Tue,Wed of this week. Checking out the rail yard(I work at the railroad-I am not a FRN). Beautiful area , Iowa as a whole . But I chose a job with better security up in MN. The guy that rode co-pilot all the way from MKE ,WI to Chi-town then across to Des Moines just may move down though , But he is a Neon SRT-4(stage 2 mods,he says) owner. It is bright yellow and he cruises fairly often. Nice person-not a hater of any sort...I hope I made the right decision.later

 

Good luck man. Iowa is a pretty place, but a whole lotta small towns, there is not really much to do. That is were many people get in trouble. Des Moines is a really great town with alot of opportunities, plus a great downtown to cruise. I live a bought an hour and fifteen minutes a way and cruise there alot during the summer.

 

Looks like for know I'm the only SS holding it down for the IA.

Hey, I'm in Iowa. I don't have an SS though. However, I do have a victory red LS.

 

IOWA CHECKING IN I have a LASER BLUE SS SC ON ORDER suppose to be here 12/31/2005 lets hope!!!

I also work as a mechanic for a chevy garage. I have been checking everyday for stage kit pricing i will keep you all informed!

 

I live in Des Moines (technically Urbandale, lol). No SS S/C for me though, just an 05 LS.

 

What's up guys. Glad to see some more Iowa 'balts. I live in Ottumwa, if any one knows where that is. Maybe after the winter weather is up we can set up a meet. My friends got a black SS S/C in Independence. I have a 69 Camaro SS 396 and i'm getting a turbo'd cavalier. Also from Independence, but i'm going to school at Iowa State.

 

I might be making a trip back to Larchwood, Iowa in my Redline. I use to lve there it's about 20 miles from Sioux Falls, SD. The town is a whole lot of nothing about 800 people.

 

I live in Des Moines & bought my Cobalt from Bob Browns so where do you work Hornetracer 8?

I,m seeing more & more Cobalts on the road now & why do you always see more of a type of a car after you buy one ??? ha ha ha

 

FLASH GORDON. I work at McLaughlin Bros Chevy in Belmond. But I bought my car at Karl. My boss wouldn't give me a good deal so i went south to fine a better deal.

Got my car at Karl too. Looked at a blue ss s/c there but it was out of my price range at the time. Got a promotion 1 month after I got my LS, sucked.
BTW, I work at the Best Buy on University.

 

Well I got a Cobalt instead of the turbo cavalier I said above. 2005 SS/SC - red.

 

hey guys, I'm from Urbandale and just bought a white SS from Bob Brown. It's a coupe with a five speed (first manual in ten years) so far I love it, it has guts for a 4 banger but got to watch the burn outs.... Been trying to find some 17" or 18" rims with black centers and polished lip, but everything I like is on back order. Once the weather warms up I plan on taking it to Porkey's drive in on cruise nights. lets hear from other central Iowa owners.

I saw Tires plus had a set of rims that were black with brushed outer rings setting by there dorrway last week at the parfair location as I bought a set of 17" wheels & tires for winter driving there. Just conferm the integrity of the metal used to MFG the wheel as mine have been replaced twice cuz of cheep aluminum used in the making of them?
I'm in the works of getting a refund & replacing the rims.

 

Hey, thanks for the information. I'll check out the rims out at the Ankeny Tires Plus, we have a member of the camaro club that is half owner, and should cut me a deal!!!! I'm interested in knowing what brand of rims that you have been having trouble with (so I wouldn't make the same mistake). I stay away from the Tire Plus on Merle Hay, they tried to rip me off once on an alignment on a newly lowered S-10 xtreme blazer.

Hey all Mid Iowa Balt's, Porky's in Des Moines is now having car nights again, I guess it started last week on Wednesday and would have been tonight (cancelled due to threat of storms) I'll be looking for fellow Balt owners.....I saw a Red SS/SC today on east Euclid that I think had a ************* sticker.

I go to porkys alot & I'm wondering if they have changed the format as it use to be called car night but I noticed now they call it clasic car night. I'll get up there next Wednesday & talk to the owner as I'm going out of town this Wednesday but I want to make sure what night we can park on the lot.
I say this because they about refused to let me drive on the lot with my SC Tahoe till they saw what it had in it & I saw new Vetts & GTO's on the lot but the cop was waving me off & I about roasted the tires away.

So we need to meet up on a Saturday night as thats car night also I just drove threw the lot looking for Cobalts & didn't see anyone so I headed home but if I knew you were going to show up I'd get up there early & get a parking spot

 

I did go up Saturday night but was late 7:30PM or there about, the place was packed and had to park down the street. It sounds like they will let certain late model vehicles in after 6:00PM (would have to be a camaro, corvette, viper or something along those lines) I think our best bet would be Wednesday evening and being this early in the season they let about anything in.......How about dropping a 572 blown engine in yours, that would get you in with no problem. I nornally park on the west side of the lot next door on the drive, look for a white SS with red stripe.
