Well I got my set last Wed. and they look good. The magic number is 6 years for tires and I dont see these lasting me more than a year anyways.
COUNT ME IN! this will be my first meet with the cobalt. cant wait! and i have a stupid newb question and i sure as hell dont feel like reading 100+ pages to see if someone already asked it lol. does the meet cost anything? like is there a fee? again sorry for the newbness
The only reason Firestones came apart was because the Retards that owned the cars that the tires were on did not know they had to keep their tires inflated. 95% of the tire failures were with the tire pressures at 20-25 PSI and the recommended PSI on the Placard of the Explorer: 34 psi. Thats why all cars now have tire pressure sensors either standard or an an option.

Risaa I don't feel like my response was bitchy, and you probably did word it wrong ,but I just didn't feel like what u said was appropriate. I'm not trying to be a bitch, but I also know some girls have other intentions for being a member of this forum other than cars which is what it should be about and its hard to tell who is a tramp and who honestly is into cars, so maybe I was wrong but can u blame me?
I think my car speaks for itself for my intentions on being a member of this forum, and my question didn't even have anything to do with that, and it was an honest question. Sorry if it was worded wrong.

ford beat up FS on cost in that tire, ALLOT. this was back when ford was making 5-7k per F150 and about 3-5k per explorer. thus ford was cost saving the trucks as it boosted the bottom line.
this is common practice, this is why tire company's have many variants of the same tire. they have one they release thats "perfect" then the variants that are used as OE. different compounds, ply counts, even tread depth and cut can change. there's a ton of variables here.
ford cost saved the tire under the reasoning of improved NVH. thus the tires load capacity, and UTOG heat score suffered.
then people being negligent with tire pressure forced these cost saved tires to fail.
people don't keep up on tire pressure, yet only a few vehicles have had an issue like this.
TPMS came around from a fuel saving FMVSS stand point more then anything.
meh, your buying into the propaganda a bit much.

All cars are built with parts that came from the lowest bidder. The same goes with tires, excluding High Performance vehicles. Remember at the CED meet when they showed off that new TC and the guy said it had Continentals on it and i made a big stink about how they dont last on the Chargers/300s and he blamed the weight of the car, and then when people bought the TCs and they could only get 12-18k of tire life from them?? My biggest issue is the fact that i HATE TPMS and I blame Owners for that.

the lowest bidder often doesn't "win" as there pass/fail on what ever specs involved are normally questionable.
the guy who wins, is the guy whom creates the most credibility for the lowest price. not just who cheapest. creadability takes money to create. note that i said create. ie-some shady **** can and does go down.
the firestone issue came out of ford, not FS. FS had the contract and ford commanded the specs.
I'm not a fan of TPMS eaither, as i could care less if you have a blow out from not checking your tires. your ignorance leads to your issue.
none of that impacts me, and car crashes are cool.
