The Central IL guys have been talking about starting a Cobalt club and I thought it would be a good idea to maybe try making it a state wide thing. Central IL seems to be a little sparse when it comes to tuning places and stuff like that. The interest is here, just not the resources. What do people from across IL think about starting a state wide club? I think it would be a great way to pool resources and get to know fellow enthusiasts. Maybe we could also include the Ion's with us. Tell me what your ideas are.

Ok, well it was partly my idea too. Haha

Anyways not only the possibility of having a state wide club would be great but we could divide it up somewhat, make a website and have an area for each part of the state.

And of course sweet shirts and stickers and stuff to show off how cool you are! haha

We need more opinions though, its a great idea, now to the chicago people lets make it work, and maybe get some southern illinoians in here too!

 

Yeah, I forgot to post that it would be broken up into sections. IE. Central Illinois, Chicago, Southern IL, etc. etc. Keep it local mostly, but there would also be interaction between the rest of the state.

it woorked out well for grand prixs.... ClubGP.com is the nationwide club for Grand Prixs, also known as ClubZZP lol..... then there is ILGPC.com where we dont suck any vendors *****. we just enjoy ourselves. WAY better than ClubGP.... So we could do the same thing here. maybe ILCSS.com ???

Well if we wanted to make a website and hoop-la like that, I have no idea how to code HTML, they don't teach that in engineering school Anybody have an idea of how to get the ball rolling on something like this? I think we need some more people to show interest but I think the interest is there. I will check out the ClubGP website and see how they are set-up. It would be nice to get an official vendor, saving money is always a good thing. Isn't Hahn in the Chicago area?

 

I'd definitely be up for it. I think it would be a lot of fun if we could set up a yearly state meet somewhere.

 

ilgpc.com is setup better IMHO. you can ask tha_lord (john) what would need to be done. hes a good guy and I dont think he would miind helping.

 

I'm still part of Clubgp and ILGPC, and yea, ILGPC is so much better built.

And as far as html i'm out too. But I completly love the idea, it would be a great oppurtunity for everyone. So spread the word to all you know!

Count me in, although as I said I am the only one in my area that I know of. I did see another Cobalt in Quincy last night that had rims and maybe exhaust. I am keeping my eye out for people in my area.

I would be in for a club -

The Midwest Vette club has a monthly cruise in at the Made Rite in the metro center (Peoria).

I think it is always the 3rd Saturday of each month at 6:00pm.

The local to Peoria folks could just horn in on that cruise, or we could meet at Hooters etc.

State-wide would be good, but it is a big state and typically the Chi-town folks have their club and the downstate folks have another.

I have organized cruises to Starved Rock where the central Illinois crew met up with the Chicago crew at Channahon (near Joliet on 55) and then went west on curvy backroads.

That kind of stuff is fun.

I can recommend web hosting services and I also could help out with a web page / forum (I am an admin and co-maintain php scripting at www.corvettevalley.com) .
